WASHINGTON, DC: Even though tech billionaire Elon Musk has tried to walk back parts of the online feud with President Donald Trump, things are far from right for the two former allies.

A few insiders have informed People that the relationship between the Tesla CEO and the POTUS has "soured beyond repair" following their recent online tirade.

Insiders claim Trump-Musk relationship has soured beyond repair

A political insider informed the outlet, "It sort of evolved from love to transactional to now pure avoidance, and Trump doesn’t forget."

"He may say something acceptable for public consumption, but after what Elon wrote on social media, and despite his apology, Trump’s relationship with Musk will never again be the same," the source said.

Meanwhile, a different source in Trump's orbit added that Musk is on "so far from good terms with Trump."

"Nobody trusts you again after you go that nuclear," the insider said.

Trump and Musk held their final Oval Office press conference together on May 30, as the SpaceX CEO stepped away from his role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Interestingly, Musk's departure was always on the cards, as he was on a 130-day contract as a "special government employee", per the outlet.

On Musk's last day, the POTUS told reporters that he hoped the Tesla CEO would continue to be involved with the administration in some capacity.

However, the tech billionaire almost immediately started a rift with the President after leaving the White House.

Donald Trump-Elon Musk feud

A week after leaving his position as the DOGE head, Musk took to X with a days-long rant against Trump and his administration.

The multi-billionaire called the president's "Big, Beautiful Bill" a "disgusting abomination," and also took credit for his 2024 election win.

Meanwhile, Trump on June 5 said he was "very disappointed" with Musk's posts.

The POTUS said, "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore."

On June 11, Musk started to walk back his social media tirade and said he had started to "regret some of my posts about President [Donald Trump]".

He also admitted that a few of his comments "went too far".

The POTUS told the New York Post that he thought Musk's apology was "very nice".

However, he continued to hint at their fractured relationship on June 12, as he signed a congressional resolution to overturn California's electric vehicle mandate.

Trump said, "I used to say, 'I'm amazed that he's endorsing me because that can't be good for him.' He said, 'Well, as long as it's happening to everybody, I'll be able to compete.'... It was a very interesting answer."

Moreover, the president said in his June 12 remarks, "Elon doesn't like me," and laughed it off and retracted the statement.
