Elton John opens up about losing sight in right eye due to infection

“It’s been a while since I’ve done anything. I just have to get off my backside,” Elton John remarked, according to New York Post.

“I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the South of France,” the music superstar revealed, adding “It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. My left eye is not the greatest.”

“There’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK,” John continued, adding "but I’m kind of stuck in the moment, because I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know. Because I can’t see a lyric for start.”

“It kind of floored me, and I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything,” he said.

Despite his challenges, John referred to himself as "the luckiest man in the world" in the interview, which was conducted to promote his forthcoming documentary, 'Elton John: Never Too Late.'
