Emily Blunt tells Stephen Colbert she gifted Christopher Nolan a pair of UGG boots as 'he hates them'

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Emily Blunt revealed on the January 11 episode of 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' that she gifted Christopher Nolan a pair of Ugg boots because he strongly disliked her wearing them on the set of 'Oppenheimer'.

In her role as Kitty Oppenheimer alongside Cillian Murphy, who portrays J. Robert Oppenheimer, the creator of the atomic bomb, Blunt made the confession about the unusual gift.

At the Golden Globes ceremony on January 7, Nolan's latest movie, 'Oppenheimer', achieved significant success by winning five awards, including Best Dramatic Motion Picture and Best Director.

Emily Blunt calls Nolan 'wonderfully curious and freeing'

Taking about her scene in the movie, Blunt recalled a moment, speaking, "Later on, we were doing the court hearing scene, and he was standing in front of the AC unit, and his hair was like that. And I was just waiting to catch his eye for the longest time. Eventually, I caught his eye and I went, 'High winds directing.'"

Colbert asked, "How open is he to, like, actors' ideas?"

Blunt replied, "He is wonderfully curious and freeing and excited by what you might bring. Not at all, you know, he doesn't dictate anything", as Colbert  added, "I heard he wasn't excited about what you might wear."

The conversation then shifted to Blunt sharing an incident invoolving 'Ugg boots'.

'He hates them, so I gifted him some'

Blunt reminisced about donning Uggs on the set and drew a comparison between Christopher Nolan's reaction and a scenario reminiscent of one of her well-known movies, 'The Devil Wears Prada'.

"He has such an issue with Ugg boots. It's a serious problem. And I walked in wearing them one day, and it was like 'The Devil Wears Prada'," Blunt said.

"He literally was like… just stared at them. I was like, 'Chris, come on.' He goes, 'Take those off"', she added.

During that particular moment, with Nolan channeling his inner Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep), according to Blunt, she found a way to get back at the director by gifting him a pair of Uggs.

"He hates them, so I gifted him some," she quipped.

"He directs in a suit and tie; doesn't he," Colbert asked, adding, "Do you ever wear Ugg boots?"

"I don't own a pair, but I see one there," remarked Blunt, but clarified, saying, "It's kind of my thing. I give people Ugg boots. I thought those were really you."

Following the conversation, Blunt graciously presented Colbert with a pair of vibrant red Ugg boots.
