WASHINGTON, DC: Former Vice President Kamala Harris recently criticized President Donald Trump's economic record, saying that he was playing the electorate with "empty promises."

She also claimed that the most notable issues faced by American families in the past year include rising costs, inflation, and economic uncertainty.

Harris, while talking to an audience, tried to show a contrast between what Trump claimed and what actually happened.

Kamala Harris calls Trump’s economic claims misleading

“So in comes Donald Trump, casting himself as the change agent, but with empty promises to the American people,” said Harris

“Under his leadership, we all know prices are up, inflation is up, unemployment is up, and healthcare costs for millions of Americans are about to double,” she added.

Harris‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ alleged that economic pressures have gotten worse for a lot of American people and listed factors as higher prices, inflation, unemployment, and increasing healthcare costs.

According to her, millions of Americans are on the verge of their healthcare costs increasing, which would exacerbate the problem of affordability that is already causing concern in other sectors as ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌well.

Kamala Harris says there's 'nothing A-plus' about Trump's economic policies

Harris also pointed to Trump’s recent comments rating the economy, referencing his remark that the economy deserved an "A-plus plus plus plus plus."

Harris said, “We all know that in the midst of all this, the truth and reality of the moment, just a few days ago he (Trump) said the economy was ‘A+++++.’"

“That's what he said when asked to rate the economy. A-plus plus plus plus plus. There is nothing A-plus about any of this.” Harris said, dismissing the assessment and contrasting it with what she described as everyday economic struggles facing households across the country.

Her remarks come as Trump continues to argue that the economy performed better during his presidency, frequently highlighting low unemployment and market performance during portions of his term.

Trump has, on numerous occasions, pointed his finger at the Joe Biden administration as the cause of inflation that is rising along with the general instability of the economy.

On the other hand, Democrats maintain that the main causes of inflation are global factors; to name a few, disturbances in supply chains and recovery after the pandemic.

The former vice president's statement was in line with the Democratic contention, which held that the Trump administration had been indifferent to the needs of the working- and middle-class people of ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌America.
