Eric Trump warns countries will 'absolutely lose' if they delay negotiating new tariffs with dad Donald

WASHINGTON DC: Eric Trump urged countries facing new US tariffs to move quickly if they want to avoid long-term losses.
He warned that those who delay could suffer the most under his father's sweeping trade plan.
I wouldn’t want to be the last country that tries to negotiate a trade deal with @realDonaldTrump. The first to negotiate will win - the last will absolutely lose. I have seen this movie my entire life…

Eric Trump warns nations not to delay tariff negotations
In a post on X, Eric Trump advised countries to not delay negotating with his father Donald Trump, while warning those who don't act on time are in loss.
“I wouldn’t want to be the last country that tries to negotiate a trade deal with @realDonaldTrump.”
He added, “The first to negotiate will win — the last will absolutely lose. I have seen this movie my entire life…”

Eric, 41, is executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
The comments followed Trump’s announcement of a 10 percent baseline tariff on all goods entering the US, with additional levies for countries he accused of taking advantage of American taxpayers.
China was hit with a 34 percent rate, Vietnam with 46 percent, and the European Union with 20 percent.
Trump acknowledged possible short-term economic pain but claimed the move would rebuild US manufacturing and create jobs.

There was confusion inside the White House over whether the tariffs were permanent or simply leverage. “They give us great power to negotiate,” Trump said, according to Reuters.
Donald Trump's tariffs raise fear of recession and trade war
The announcement drew swift international reaction. China retaliated with a matching 34 percent tax on US imports. The European Union is still weighing its response.
In Japan, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said the tariffs had caused a “national crisis.” Tokyo’s stock market saw its worst week in years, hit hard by a plunge in banking shares.
JP Morgan raised its global recession estimate to 60 percent, up from 40 percent. According to the organization, economists have said the move could drive inflation, raise family costs by thousands, and push the US toward recession.
Analysts add that the plan may also damage alliances in Asia and hurt long-term strategies to check China’s influence.
Yet, Trump seems unbothered. He posted on Truth Social on Friday, calling out China. “China played it wrong they panicked – the one thing they cannot afford to do!" Trump wrote.
In another post on Thursday, he wrote, “The operation is over! The patient lived, and is healing. the prognosis is far stronger, bigger, better, more resilient than ever before. Make America great again!!!”
Internet mocks Eric Trump’s trade advice
Eric Trump’s post received mixed sharp criticism online. The sharper critics also mocked both Eric and President Trump.
“You guys have absolutely no idea what you're doing, do you?” one person replied on X.
“This situation is about to backfire on your country. Other nations are uniting while you're losing allies. The old way of doing business doesn’t work in a globally connected economy anymore,” another user posted.
One wrote, “Every time you post… the opposite happens. You should stop saying anything at all. You’re basically Jim Cramer.”

“So what happens when all of the countries band together and they all tariff us instead????” asked one commenter.
“Well we can believe your whole family got their understanding of international affairs from movies,” another user mocked.
One post read, “The tariffs aren't reciprocal though? They're based on trade deficits which aren't inherently bad. So he's just bullying people into doing what he wants?”
“It’s all a game to you, isn’t it. Shame on you,” another user wrote.
