The 52-year-old actress recently shared a series of black-and-white photos on Instagram, one of which showed the ink on her inner wrist. The tattoo, which reads “de Gosling,” has previously sparked speculation about its meaning and its connection to Gosling.

A follower reacted to the tattoo in the comments, writing, “The tattoo, I can’t!” Mendes then responded with a simple explanation about her body art. “It’s the only one I have,” she wrote, before adding, “the only one I’ve ever wanted.” She also included a heart-eyed emoji with her response.

Mendes first gave the public a look at her tattoo in 2022. The design, which reads “of Gosling” in several languages, was later featured in a number of her Instagram posts throughout that summer and fall.

Although Mendes has referred to Gosling as her “husband,” the couple has never publicly confirmed whether they are officially married.
