LONDON, UK: A viral social media rumor claims that British broadcaster Piers Morgan and Scottish singer Susan Boyle are engaged and preparing to get married after secretly dating for years.

The story, accompanied by AI-generated wedding images, quickly gained traction across Facebook, prompting many to believe in what was framed as an “unexpected love story.” Let's find out if the rumors are true.

Claim: Piers Morgan and Scottish singer Susan Boyle are engaged

The viral post, which appeared on multiple pages and garnered thousands of reactions, read, “From Secret Crush to Husband and Wife: The Unexpected Love Story of Piers Morgan and Susan Boyle. In a twist no one predicted — yet one that feels strangely destined — British broadcaster Piers Morgan and global singing sensation Susan Boyle have revealed they are not only a couple, but engaged to be married.”

The post also added, “After more than a decade in the public eye, both as household names in their own right, the pair have reportedly been quietly dating for years, far from the cameras, red carpets, and relentless media glare. Now, they're ready to step into the spotlight — this time, together...”

Some versions of the post included a collage of images showing the two in wedding attire, allegedly inside a church.

Others linked to advertisement-heavy articles hosted on WordPress blogs like thepopularnews.info and litaglobal.com, repeating the same narrative that the pair had kept their romance private for over a decade and had finally decided to go public.

Fact Check: No, Piers Morgan and Susan Boyle are not engaged

There is no credible evidence that Piers Morgan and Susan Boyle are in a relationship, engaged, or planning to marry. Despite the viral posts, no reputable media outlet in the UK or internationally has reported any such development.

Given the high profile of both individuals, such a major personal announcement would have received significant and immediate coverage across mainstream press if it were true.

Further, Morgan has been married to journalist Celia Walden since 2010. As of this writing, there have been no credible reports of a separation or divorce between the two.

Two of the three images circulating alongside the claim appear to have been artificially created. Telltale signs of AI generation include distorted facial features, inconsistent lighting, and unusually shaped hands, common giveaways in fake visuals.

Additionally, in the two AI-created photos, Susan Boyle appears in two entirely different wedding dresses in the same setting, further raising suspicions.

The third photo is real. It shows Morgan and Boyle during a 2010 taping of 'Piers Morgan’s Life Stories', in which Boyle was interviewed about her rapid rise to fame following her 2009 appearance on 'Britain’s Got Talent.'

This image has been publicly available for years and was simply recycled to lend false authenticity to the fabricated story.

Source of the rumor that Piers Morgan and Susan Boyle are engaged

The origin of the rumor may be loosely linked to Boyle’s past public comments expressing admiration for Morgan. In a 2019 interview, when asked about a longstanding “crush” on Morgan that reportedly began around 2009, Boyle admitted, “I still like him a bit,” though she added, “I’ve grown up a bit.”

On a 2020 episode of 'Loose Women', she said she used to call him “Piersy Baby” and joked her feelings were more of a “smash.”

By 2021, Boyle clarified that she no longer fancied Morgan. In response, Morgan posted on X, “Crushing.”
