AUSTIN, TEXAS: ABC's talk show 'The View' has criticized Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the recent past due to his political stance since he became an ally of President Donald Trump.

The hosts of the talk show have repeatedly criticized and made fun of the tech billionaire in the last few months.

Amid this, a viral post claiming that Elon Musk called for a boycott of the talk show has been making rounds on social media. As per the claim, the Tesla CEO described 'The View' as a "meeting place for ignorant women." But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Elon Musk described 'The View' as a 'meeting place for ignorant women'

In February 2025, a viral post claimed that Elon Musk had called for a boycott of the all-female panel talk show 'The View'.

The post made its way on Facebook, Instagram, X and other social media platforms.

A person wrote on X, "Elon Musk called for a 'boycott' of 'The View', calling it: "A meeting place for ignorant women". Immediately after, the entire cast responded 'fiercely!'"

Moreover, several blog websites published articles claiming Musk criticized 'The View' on X (formerly Twitter), and that his comment prompted reactions from the talk show's panelists, according to Snopes.

False: No credible evidence to back the claim

The claims made in the post are false as there is no credible evidence that Elon Musk made any such remark or called for a boycott of 'The View', as per Snopes.

Moreover, a search of Musk's X profile using the terms "meeting place ignorant women" showed no evidence of the quote, per the fact-checking outlet.

Furthermore, a Google News search of "Elon Musk The View meeting place for ignorant women" also showed no evidence of any reputable news outlet reporting on his alleged call to boycott the show, reported Snopes.

Meanwhile, a blog post claimed that the panelists on the talk show replied to Musk's criticism in their "next live broadcast" but did not specify a date.

All searches for the alleged comments on Google showed no proof of the hosts ever giving such remarks.

'The View' host Joy Behar apologizes for mistakenly calling Elon Musk 'pro-apartheid' on air

In February 2025, 'The View' host Joy Behar apologized to Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk after mistakenly calling him 'pro-apartheid' on air.

Behar made the claim during a rant on the show against the tech-billionaire and his relationship with President Donald Trump, according to Daily Mail.

She said during the show, "The guy was not born in this country, who was born under apartheid in South Africa" as she later called the DOGE chief a "foreigner" and "a foreign agent," per the outlet.

She added, "So, he has that mentality going on. He was pro-apartheid, as I understand it."

Behar soon embarrassingly walked back her claims and admitted that she had no evidence of it being true after a commercial break.

She said, "Now I'm getting some flack because I said that Musk was pro-apartheid. I don't really know for sure if he was."

The host added, "He grew up at that time when apartheid was in full bloom, before the great Nelson Mandela fixed that. He was around at that time, but maybe he was, maybe he wasn't - he might have been a young guy, too. So, don't be suing me, okay Elon?"
