Fact Check: Did Justin Bieber really sing viral song with ‘lost myself at a Diddy party’ lyrics?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A new track that many believe could be a Justin Bieber release has taken social media by storm, particularly after its intriguing lyrics referenced being at a "Diddy party."
Initially surfacing on platforms like TikTok, X, and YouTube back in April, the song has gained even more traction following the recent arrest of rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Diddy is currently incarcerated at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center following his arrest on serious charges of racketeering and trafficking on September 16.
Following Combs' arrest and charges, Bieber's former friendship with the disgraced mogul has come under intense scrutiny, alongside that of other celebrities as fans examine resurfaced videos of their interactions.
Claim: Did Justin Bieber sing a song about ‘Diddy's party’?
A viral claim reported that a song featuring lyrics about being "lost myself at a Diddy party," which has gained millions of views on platforms like TikTok, X, and YouTube, was sung by Justin Bieber.
Initially appearing in April, one TikTok video alone garnered 7 million views. The song recently went viral following Diddy's arrest in September.
The lyrics include lines like, "Wasn't worth all the fortune and fame," and "I was in it for a new Ferrari, but it cost me way more than my soul." The song seems to hint at allegations of misconduct at Diddy's residences.
Viral claim debunked as researchers reveal song was likely AI-generated
There is no record of Justin Bieber releasing the song, and it is not included in his catalog. Many social media users have noted that the track sounds like it may have been created with AI, while others believe it was indeed released by Bieber.
According to researchers, the track was likely generated using artificial intelligence. Additionally, Stephen Stahl, co-founder of Ai-SPY, an AI audio detection tool, suggested to CBS News that the song is likely AI-generated. He speculated that someone wrote the lyrics and melody, then uploaded them to a website, using a clone of Justin Bieber's voice to produce the track.
Stahl asserted, "AI is [going to] be able to help anybody create a song easily, quicker, more efficiently. The downside is that everybody will be able to create a song. So talent is no longer a prerequisite to construct a great song."
Zohaib Ahmed, CEO and founder of Resemble AI, another AI detection company, also informed CBS News that his company’s tool indicates the song is likely AI-generated.
AI expert Marva Bailer told Fox News Digital, "The reason why this is generated is because it is not something that's being publicized by the artist. And when we say ‘AI-generated,’ that can mean a lot of things. And so AI actually trains on the voice and what could be going on. It could be an AI tool, or it could be an actual digital tool.”
She added, “These digital music tools exist. What makes it really getting this attention is the idea of AI because it's happening so quickly and it looks so real, and so everyone is like, it must be someone that's using something from AI to make it look this real.”
