LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s been nearly a month since conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk was fatally shot.

This week, things got strange after a photo of Justin Bieber in a Turning Point USA hoodie began circulating online.

Context of the claim

The image in question shows Bieber with a buzz cut, wearing a hoodie with a TPUSA logo splashed across his chest. Some conservatives on social media fell for it.

“Justin is sporting Turning Point,” one fan wrote on X.

“WOW! Who would’ve thought you’d catch Justin Bieber in a Turning Point USA hoodie?! I must say, I didn’t like the things that have been going on in his life, but if he’s willing to channel his abilities into something positive like Turning Point, I’ll give him a 2nd chance," another person remarked.

“Be honest, did you have Justin Bieber going to Christ and supporting Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA on your bingo cards?” someone else chimed in.

“That kid has been used, abused, and hung out to dry by the powers on the Left his entire life. Yeah... it totally tracks," a comment read.

"Justin Bieber was thrown to the demons at a young age and then had every debauchery a young superstar could indulge in. His light is trying to outshine the darkness that surrounds him. Pray for him," another offered.

Fact Check: False

The viral photo isn't real. While it fooled plenty of people, it didn’t take long for online sleuths to trace the viral pic back to its source.

A Facebook page called “Qbanguy,” which shares “sarcastic AI content daily," was behind the post. Captioned “JB showing support,” the picture came with hashtags like #lifestyle, #explore, #JustinBieber, and #AI, a not-so-subtle clue that the picture was cooked up by artificial intelligence.

The image dropped just five days ago and has since garnered thousands of likes, shares, and comments on Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok.

But there’s zero sign of the hoodie on Bieber’s actual social media. Furthermore, there aren’t any credible reports or sightings linking Bieber to Turning Point USA or even Charlie Kirk, for that matter.

The viral post was finally attached with a Community Note on X, explaining that the image is AI-generated.

It's worth noting that Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA to promote “freedom, free markets, and limited government,” was tragically shot in the neck and killed on September 10 while speaking at a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University.

Justin Bieber’s faith is real

While the Turning Point association isn't based on reality, Bieber’s spiritual side definitely isn’t.

The pop star has been open about his Christian faith for years, often crediting it with helping him turn his life around after a turbulent stretch of fame and public meltdowns. Back in 2020, he sat down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and got candid about his relationship with religion.

“I think it was my perception of who Jesus really was... I'd had really bad examples of Christians in my life, who would say one thing and do another, so they were the direct example of who Jesus was... I didn't take it as seriously because I didn't have a good example,” Bieber said. “The way I look at my relationship with God and with Jesus is I'm not trying to earn God's love by doing good things.”

Bieber went on to explain, “What it talks about in the Bible, it's like there's no obedience. There's no faith without obedience, so it's like I had faith about like, 'Oh, I believe Jesus died on the cross for me,' but I never really implemented it into my life.” He added, “I never was like I'm going to be obedient.”
