Fact Check: Did NYC protesters call for violence against Kristi Noem and ICE agents?
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old US citizen and mother of three, during an ICE operation in south Minneapolis, protests erupted in several cities, including New York.
Hundreds showed up at Foley Square to protest on Wednesday, January 7, after the incident in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called the agent’s actions reckless. But Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem maintains the agent fired in self-defense.

A video circulating online allegedly appears to show protesters in New York City calling for the hanging of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and the killing of ICE agents during demonstrations following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis.
Noem defended the ICE agent's action during a New York briefing, blaming sanctuary policies for rising assaults on agents, while demonstrators demanded accountability, with some conservative voices calling the chants incitement.
Massive crowd in NYC chanting to "kiII ICE" officers. This is blatantly illegal incitement. ARREST. THEM.

Fact Check: True, some protesters did chant for Kristi Noem’s hanging and killing ICE Agents

The incident with the ICE officer was horrible. What should be demanded isn't more violence, but for due process and legal justice. Not this. https://t.co/nZgX22dC7j
A video making the rounds on social media, especially in a clip posted by @ScooterCasterNY, shows protesters shouting heated slogans at federal officials and police.
People online jumped on the chants right away. Some called them out as open calls for violence.
Others pushed back, saying it was just raw anger and grief boiling over, not a sign of any real plan.
Multiple videos from the NYC protest capture protesters chanting phrases including “Kristi Noem will hang,” “Save a life, kill an ICE,” and “F*** Charlie Kirk.”
In one clip, a woman is heard pushing back against the rhetoric, saying “two wrongs don’t make a right,” but her remarks are quickly drowned out by the surrounding crowd.
Protesters began gathering in Foley Square around 6 pm for what was seen as an emergency rally in response to the Minneapolis shooting. It was organized by the New York Immigration Coalition.
Recently, Noem said in a press conference, “Today, in an act of domestic terrorism, an anti-ICE rioter weaponized her vehicle against law enforcement. Our officer relied on his training and saved his own life, as well as the lives of his fellow officers.”
