NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: MSNBC host Rachel Maddow is known to be a harsh critic of President Donald Trump. She recently criticized the POTUS for his response to the July 4 floods in Texas, and compared it to former President George W Bush’s notorious mishandling of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Meanwhile, amid this, a rumor circulated online focusing on the journalist's personal life. The viral rumor claimed that Rachel Maddow announced that she is having a baby via surrogacy. But is there any truth to this? Let's find out below.

Claim: Rachel Maddow announced she is having a baby via surrogacy

In July 2025, a rumor went viral claiming that MSNBC's Rachel Maddow announced she and her partner, Susan Mikula, were having a baby via surrogacy.

A Facebook user shared a post that read, "At 50 Years Old, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Emotionally Reveals Plans to Welcome a Child Through Surrogacy with Longtime Partner Susan Mikula—Their Intimate Announcement Captivates Fans Worldwide, Inspiring Heartfelt Conversations on Age, Love, and New Beginnings."

The post also had pictures showing Maddow holding a baby and another of her holding up a sonogram. Similar rumor was shared by different Facebook users as well.

False: No credible evidence to back the claim

The claims made in the viral rumor are false, as there is no credible evidence to prove that Rachel Maddow announced she is having a baby via surrogacy.

Moreover, no credible news outlet reported the claim that Maddow and her partner made such an announcement, Snopes reported.

Similarly, a Google search with the keywords "Rachel Maddow surrogacy child" showed results primarily related to the circulated posts.

Meanwhile, the viral Facebook post also contained a link, which redirected to an article on the site 'USA News', which had a physical address that doesn't exist, hence proving it was not a credible news site.

Furthermore, Rachel Maddow did not make any such announcement on her personal social media accounts.

Fake claims surrounding Rachel Maddow following Texas floods

Following the devastating July 4 Texas floods, a rumor circulated online claiming that Rachel Maddow donated millions of dollars to flood relief in Texas.

The claim further added that the MSNBC anchor hired two helicopters for rescues, offered her Texas home for relief work, and she herself was rescued from the floods.

A Facebook post, which was later deleted, claimed that Maddow donated $3 million to flood relief in Texas, per Snopes.

The fact-checking outlet reported that the caption of that post read, "In an unexpected and deeply moving gesture, Rachel Maddow shocked everyone with her generous donation to the victims of the Texas flood tragedy. It wasn't just the $3 million that had people talking—it was what came next that left viewers in complete awe."
