WASHINGTON, DC: A rumor has been circulating on social media platforms claiming that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has voted to officially merge with the Communist Party of America, sparking concerns and debates. The claim has also triggered questions and speculations, with many calling for a fact-check into the viral rumor.

According to a post that surfaced on X, in a stunning 164-12 vote, the Democratic National Committee officially voted to merge with the Communist Party of America, embracing the ideology as the future of America. In contrast, only 12 members, led by Senator John Fetterman, voted against it.

The post further accuses the Democratic Party of "openly chosen communism," praises Fetterman as one of the few dissenters, and argues that the DNC has adopted Marxism.

It wraps up with the metaphor that the Democratic Party no longer exists in its traditional form and is essentially the Communist Party of America "wearing a donkey costume."

The comments under the post indicate panic and concerns, suggesting that many believe the claim to be true, while others dismissed it as fake.

Fact Check: False, the claim is not supported by facts

The claim, however, is fake, as there are no reports of the Democratic Party merging with the Communist Party after a vote.

The claim that only twelve Democrats, including John Fetterman, voted against it is baseless.

There are no official announcements, statements, or press releases from the DNC or Fetterman supporting the claim, which, if true, would have made headlines and triggered nationwide backlash and debate.

A search on Google also showed no credible news media reports.

Additionally, the account that posted the claim describes itself as a fan account; though not explicitly a parody account, it has made several such fake claims, likely intended as satire.

During his July 4 address at the National Mall, President Donald Trump condemned communism as a ‘cancer’ that must be cut out quickly, vowing that the United States would never succumb to what he described as a growing domestic threat.

The remarks came a night after he delivered a similar warning at Mount Rushmore, telling the crowd that a "communist menace" was threatening the country.

"Communism is a loser, and it always will be. The communist system is the opposite of the American system, and the communist system has never worked," Trump said.

"We like to stop a threat like that immediately and before it begins. It's like a cancer. You got to cut it out. You got to cut it out fast."
