Fact Check: Is Diddy connected to LA wildfires as his mansion remains unharmed?

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Los Angeles wildfires are tearing through neighborhoods, leaving destruction in their wake, and have even gone after some of Hollywood’s finest.
While celebs like Anna Faris and Anthony Hopkins are dealing with their homes being reduced to ash, Sean "Diddy" Combs’ mansion has remained unscathed—sparking a wave of conspiracy theories.

Diddy’s mansion standing tall amid LA wildfires raises questions
It all started on Tuesday, January 7, when flames erupted in Pacific Palisades and quickly spread across Los Angeles County. By Sunday, the fires—dubbed the Palisades fire, Eaton fire, and Hurst fire—had claimed 16 lives, displaced 180,000 people, and destroyed over 12,300 structures. On top of that, 40,300 acres of land has been scorched.
Hollywood wasn’t spared either. Celebrities like Miles Teller and Anna Faris are now dealing with the fallout as their multi-million-dollar homes went up in flames. But while the fires didn’t discriminate, one mansion seemed to have a lucky charm: Diddy’s massive 17,000-square-foot estate in Holmby Hills.
The disgraced mogul's luxurious crib at 200 South Mapleton Drive just outside Beverly Hills has managed to stay untouched. And so while the fire tore through nearby neighborhoods, his place was unharmed, thus raising eyebrows and leading to a number of conspiracy theories.
Catherine Austin Fitts, a former George HW Bush official, jumped on her 'Financial Rebellion' podcast and straight-up questioned if the wildfires were part of a "cover-up".
“In situations like this, I look at patterns,” she said, before asking, “How many of the homeowners were on the P Diddy list?”
The so-called Diddy list is an alleged roster of celebrities tied to his infamous “Freak-Off” parties—wild debaucherous gatherings that are now part of his legal troubles. The Bad Boy Records owner is currently facing some serious charges, including racketeering, conspiracy, and trafficking.
His trial is set for May 5 this year, and now some people are wondering if the wildfires are conveniently erasing evidence tied to his name.
Fitts even suggested the fires might have been deliberately started using advanced tech. “It’s hard to conceive the original fires weren’t triggered from the sky or from the suborbital platform,” she claimed. However, Fitts isn’t dropping any receipts for these claims.
Attention on Diddy amid wildfire destruction

Before anyone confirmed that Diddy’s mansion was still standing, social media lit up with rumors that his house had gone up in flames.
A Facebook user posted, “P Diddy’s mansion in California has been completely consumed by fire. It should be noted that the house would be under investigation in a couple of days where many names would be involved in the case, unfortunately, that will no longer be possible.”
However, it turns out the post was fake. The image used in the viral claim was from a 2014 report by The Cincinnati Enquirer.
So why all the focus on Diddy? Aside from his mansion dodging the flames, the hip-hop mogul is in serious hot water.
He’s pleaded not guilty to serious charges, including racketeering, conspiracy, and trafficking. His trial is one of the most anticipated cases of this year and people aren’t letting him off the hook.
But while Diddy’s mansion stands tall, the rest of LA is struggling. Red flag warnings are in effect, with winds reaching up to 70 mph and no signs of the fires slowing down. The National Weather Service is calling these conditions some of the worst in recent years.
Yet another round of Santa Ana winds are expected this week with winds picking up Monday. In combination with critically dry vegetation and low humidity, elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions will continue through late Wednesday. pic.twitter.com/lOWj7EHB13
