A photo of Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, sitting on his mother’s lap and appearing to take her picture has resurfaced and gone viral online as of mid-July 2025. Originally shared on Bluesky, the image quickly spread across multiple platforms, including Threads and X (formerly Twitter). Notably, the same picture had circulated throughout 2024 as well.

One X user, Sundae Divine, shared the photo with a caption supposedly quoting Barron: “Hang on, Mom, I’ll take this picture of you and then Dad and I are going to the park to toss the football around and bond.”

The image reignited debates across social media, sparking confusion and speculation about its authenticity. Comments ranged from curiosity to skepticism. One user questioned, “This is real!? Because of the Polaroids on the couch.”

While another asked, “And who took this picture? So many questions about the whole thing.”

Others weighed in with doubts. “This is abnormal, hopefully it’s AI and not real,” and “Hard to tell if it is real.”

Another user firmly declared, “Photoshopped. She can’t stand the slob.”

The controversy highlights growing uncertainty in the digital age, where advanced editing and AI-generated content often blur the line between real and fake.

Barron Trump's resurfaced picture with Melania is real

The old photo of Barron Trump that recently resurfaced online, and sparked confusion, has been confirmed as authentic. Some X users expressed doubts about the image, pointing to Melania’s hand placement on Barron’s legs and how he was sitting on her thighs.

However, the photo is genuine and is part of the Getty Images collection. It was taken in early January 2016, when Barron was 9 years old, during a photo shoot at Trump Tower in New York City, credited to photographer Regine Mahaux, according to the Getty caption.
