Fact Check: Was Jasmine Crockett booted from her district after SCOTUS upholds Texas map?
WASHINGTON, DC: A viral rumor spread across social media on December 4 claiming that Rep. Jasmine Crockett was being booted from her current district after the Supreme Court upheld the Texas Congressional map.
But is there any truth to this claim? Let’s break it down.
Claim: Rep Jasmine Crockett booted from district after Texas map upheld
Social media posts suggested that because the Supreme Court allowed the Republican-drawn Texas Congressional map to be used in the 2026 election, Rep. Crockett's district, TX-30, was effectively dismantled or redrawn to exclude her home. Posts claimed she would have to move, retire, or run in a less favorable district.
A post by @EricLDaugh on December 4, 2025,, showed Crockett's picture with the caption, “BREAKING: It's official, Rep. Jasmine Crockett is being BOOTED out of her current district now the Texas Congressional map is upheld by SCOTUS”

Fact Check: Jasmine Crockett not booted from district
The claim that Rep. Jasmine Crockett has been removed from her congressional seat is false.
Crockett remains the incumbent for Texas's 30th Congressional District (TX-30) and is legally entitled to serve out her term until January 2027.
The Supreme Court ruling on December 4, 2025, upheld the 2025 Texas Congressional map, Plan C2333, for use in the 2026 midterms. However, this does not remove any current House member.
According to the US Constitution, Article I, Section 2, a House member only needs to reside in the state, not the specific district.
While the new Republican-drawn map may make re-election more challenging for Crockett, the claim that she has been "fired" or "booted" is an exaggeration fueled by partisan misinformation. She can still run in the redrawn district or pursue other options, including a rumored US Senate bid.
Rep Jasmine Crockett responds to SCOTUS ruling on Texas map
Following the ruling, Rep Jasmine Crockett released a statement condemning the decision, calling it “disappointing” but unsurprising from a MAGA-influenced court. She clarified that the Court only "pressed pause" on maps previously found to weaken the voices of Black, Latino, and minority communities.
Crockett stressed the Supreme Court did not declare the maps fair or constitutional and warned politicians not to "get too comfortable."
She described the gerrymandered districts as "political Russian roulette," citing the tight Tennessee race as evidence that so-called safe seats could shrink dramatically.
She concluded, “The final say does not belong to Donald Trump, Greg Abbott, or a Supreme Court willing to look the other way. The final say belongs to the people of Texas.”
