NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Country music fans are demanding that Morgan Wallen be featured in the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show following rap artist Kendrick Lamar's lackluster performance at Super Bowl LIX.

The 37-year-old rapper, who recently bagged five Grammys, performed at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans as the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 9.

While some were impressed by the 'Not Like Us' hitmaker's dance along with Samuel L Jackson and Serena Williams' cameos, others criticized the performance as the "worst halftime show ever."

Now, fans are pleading on X (formerly Twitter) for country music icon chart-topper Wallen to be the main attraction at the football event next year.

Country music fans call for Morgan Wallen to play at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show

One wrote, "Morgan Wallen Super Bowl halftime show 2026 who says no?" and another said, "Enough nonsense. Morgan Wallen Super Bowl halftime show 2026."

"2026 - Super Bowl Halftime Show.. Please for the love of God, be Morgan Wallen," one fan hoped, while someone else added, "2026 Super Bowl Halftime show wishlist: 1) AC/DC 2) Morgan Wallen 3) Post Malone (with guests), ex: Luke combs, Swae Lee) 4) Miley Cyrus."

"The NFL can save the Super Bowl halftime show by having Morgan Wallen do next years performance," a person suggested, with another writing, "I don't care too much of who will be in the Super Bowl next year, but it would be in the best of interests to have someone like Morgan Wallen at the halftime show next year. Hopes and dreams I guess."

An individual said, "If I could pick the next Super Bowl halftime show performer, it would be Morgan Wallen. Why? • All age/race demographics know his songs • He’d put an energetic/exciting show on • Songs would get the audience moving • He can bring lots of big guest stars • Top selling artist," listing the possible reasons why Wallen should feature at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.

"Considering Morgan Wallen's background... I don't think you're gonna see him at a Super Bowl," wrote another person, highlighting the country star's past troubles.

Morgan Wallen's past legal issues may jeopardize any prospects of performing at the Super Bowl

Following the release of a video showing the country artist using the N-word, radio stations and streaming services banned Morgan Wallen's music in 2021 and Nashville's Big Loud Records decided to suspend his recording contract indefinitely.

Consequently, he was excluded or restricted from multiple award events and did not earn any Grammy nominations for his best-selling second studio album, 'Dangerous: The Double Album', as per Daily Mail.

It transpired months after Wallen was kicked out of Kid Rock's bar in downtown Nashville and arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Then, in 2024, he threw a chair at police officers from a rooftop bar a few days after his child's mother became engaged to another man.

The police reported that the chair fell three feet away from them, leading to three felony charges of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

Wallen waived his initial court appearance and entered a guilty plea to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment in a Nashville court seven months later.

Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl LIX performance falls short

Samuel L Jackson, 76, dressed as "Uncle Sam" kicked off the halftime performance, which led to Kendrick Lamar performing a medley of his hits. R&B artist SZA then joined the rapper to perform their tracks 'Luther' and 'All the Stars'.

During the intense performance, one of the dancers was detained by security after they waved the Sudanese and Palestinian flags late in the show.

Lamar, a Pulitzer Prize winner, wore a blue and white blazer, a backward hat, blue pants, and a black shirt. The backing dancers wore red, white, and blue, the colors of the American flag, while SZA wore an all-red outfit.

While the performance was enjoyed by many, some were left unimpressed, with one writing on social media, "Worst halftime show ever not a fan."

"The media trying to spin Kendrick Lamar performance as powerful is hilarious. It was terrible. Even the sound system was crap, would not understand anything. Worst performance in years yet media spinning it as resounding success," expressed another.
