Fans join in as Kelly Ripa jokes new Christmas tree is on 'Treezempic' after first one won't fit in home

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kelly Ripa, 54, shared the amusing tale of how she and her husband Mark Consuelos, 53, installed her "skinny" holiday centerpiece in her house on 'Live with Kelly and Mark' on Monday, December 9.

She also shared the image of her new tree in the center of her living room on Instagram with the caption. "Behold the lady 🎄even the trees are skinny this year #treezempic?"

On their morning talk show, Kelly Ripa revealed that she is currently on her second tree as the first one she received "was too big for us to fit in our house."

She shared, "The Christmas tree is a big deal for me every year, it’s what I look forward to. And when the tree arrived, and they cut it open, it was like a scene out of [National Lampoon's Christmas] Vacation. The entire tree became [huge] It was like a bloomin’ onion," as per People.

The first tree, she explained, "was a giant" and "three feet taller" than the room's ceiling would permit, adding that "it was the width of the room, so the entire room became the tree."

Ripa continued, "So we got what I like to call Treezempic or Pinejaro. She’s skinny, don’t skinny-shame her. She’s sensitive about it. She’s been exercising every day. She’s beautiful," poking fun at the Ozempic trend. 

"But when I tell you, hanging ornaments on this tree… even the lightest ornament and the branches are like, ‘I can’t,'" she recalled.

Her husband, Consuelos, added, "Yeah, I heard terms like, 'These branches are flaccid.'" Ripa agreed with her husband when she said that "most of the ornaments are inside the tree."

Although they initially had to adjust to their smaller tree, Consuelos said, "I think it’s great" because they still had enough room to lounge in the space.

"I’ve never been able to get around to the backside of the tree. It’s usually under-decorated because I just can’t get back there. But now, it’s fully dressed," Ripa remarked.

To which, Consuelos added, "And we spent some time there this weekend. We lit the fireplace. The fireplace was roaring. It was nice."

The couple's this year's Christmas tree is notably smaller than their tree from the previous year, as seen in an Instagram post made by Ripa in December 2023.

She had an extra-wide Christmas tree last year that reached all the way to her ceiling and had plenty of branches for all of her holiday decorations, as per Daily Mail.

Ripa previously revealed that she and Consuelos use their 33-year-old ornament collection to decorate their Christmas tree each year. They tied the knot in May 1996 and have three children together, Joaquin, 21, Lola, 23, and Michael, 27.

The comments section of Kelly Ripa's post about her "skinny" Christmas tree saw her fans joining in the fun, with many complimenting her this year's tree. 

One wrote, "Gorgeous tree for a gorgeous lady. Xxx," and another quipped, "Your tree has a beautiful shape! Trim and slim, like its owners."

"You didn't have to move any furniture for that tiny tree lol," joked a person, while another echoed Ripa's sentiments, writing, "Wow, that's not as big as you usually get, but still pretty." 

Others told Ripa that the tree was a "slender stunner" and "very beautiful." While one joked, "That B 🎄has DEFINITELY been micro-dosing."

"😂 so true 😂 Trendzempicepidemic," chimed in one, poking fun at the Ozempic trend. Another person jested, "I want what she’s having!!"
