ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: Vogue is under fire after social media users accused the magazine of noticeably editing new photos of Amal Clooney from her appearance at the 2025 Prix Suisse event.

The publication shared two images from the human rights lawyer’s onstage discussion on Sunday but the air-brushed look immediately sparked an online debate.

Vogue’s Amal Clooney photos prompt accusations of Facetuning

Clooney, 47, addressed the audience on a wide range of topics, from her expansive career in international law to her ongoing work with the Clooney Foundation for Justice. But within minutes of Vogue’s Instagram post, much of the conversation shifted away from her speech to her face.

“Why has Amal been yassified,” one user wrote.

Another echoed the sentiment, asking, “Did Vogue just FaceTune Amal Clooney?”

A third piled on, “Why did you face tune her???”

Others urged the magazine to respect Clooney’s natural beauty. “Please don’t filter this stunning individual. Her brilliance is the focus,” one commenter insisted.

Another summed up the sentiment felt across the comment section, “Honestly I thought it was someone else in the first pic!”

One user on X posted, "Hey quick question why did Vogue yassify Amal Clooney?"

Fans criticize Vogue's focus on fashion over substance

The Instagram post showcased Clooney in a plunging bright red Sergio Hudson jumpsuit paired with gold heels and jewelry, a look Vogue described as a “festive twist” on her signature style. But many users slammed the magazine for highlighting her wardrobe rather than the content of her speech.

The caption read, “Over the weekend, Amal Clooney put a festive twist on her signature silhouette for an appearance at the 2025 Prix Suisse. Clooney addressed the crowd in a statement jumpsuit — a look she's made her public-speaking go-to.”

Critics argued the write-up overshadowed the impactful work Clooney spoke about on stage, calling the fashion-first framing “predictable” and “disappointing.”

The jumpsuit has a history – fans recognize it from 2019

Several users quickly pointed out that Clooney had worn the same striking jumpsuit at Meghan Markle’s 2019 baby shower.

Instead of criticizing the repeat look, many praised her for embracing timeless, sustainable fashion choices.

Amal Clooney’s public appearances often stir conversation

This isn’t the first time Clooney’s appearance has gone viral. In August, she faced blowback for allegedly “upstaging” her husband George Clooney at the Venice Film Festival premiere of his film Jay Kelly.

Wearing a vivid fuchsia mini dress with a dramatic train, Clooney’s glowing appearance was reportedly the result of a 111SKIN facial, which included “wrinkle-minimizing wand movements” and a sculpting massage. The treatment reportedly uses products totaling nearly $3,000 and costs about $315 for a 90-minute session.

A distinguished legal career behind the glamour

Despite the ongoing focus on her fashion and appearance, Clooney has solidified her position as one of the most respected legal figures globally. She has represented prominent clients including former Maldivian president Mohamed Nasheed and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Born in Beirut and raised in the UK after her family fled the Lebanese War, Clooney now serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School and a Visiting Professor of Practice at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government.
