Ana Navarro visits Port Elizabeth
In addition to her Christmas wish, Navarro also shared that she and her husband got a “little taste” of South African culture. ‘The View’ host visited Port Elizabeth, the birthplace of Nelson Mandela.
Navarro posed in a traditional outfit, where she also posed with and showcased several locals and wrote, “Got a little taste of South African culture -the sounds and colors and tribes. This is a country that has gone through so much. It was not so long ago, in my lifetime, that Apartheid was a daily reality.”

She added, “Today, the many tribes and people of S Africa, are allowed to live freely. I’m not saying there is not racism and inequality. I’m saying Apartheid is no longer the law of the land. Blacks are not banned from entering certain areas and places unless they meet certain conditions and carry a “dumb card,” as was once required.”
Navarro then spoke a little about Port Elizabeth and wrote, “We were in Port Elizabeth, the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, who was born into the Khosa people. He served almost 30 years as a political prisoner, and upon being freed, became the first Black President of S Africa. We can get so caught up with superficial differences, when we have so much in common.”
“As I watched the show last night, I was struck by how Africa is at the root of so much of the music I love - the rhythms of the Caribbean, the drums of Cuba, the marimba I grew up listening to in Nicaragua. They proudly shared a little bit of themselves with us last night, and I am sharing it with you,” wrote ‘The View’ host on Instagram.
