Wendy Williams’ niece says her aunt couldn't believe her show was canceled

She told CNN, “I got serious, and I said, ‘I want to really explain something to you so that you can get this. There’s no more ‘Wendy Williams Show'. They decided to cancel it. After so many fabulous seasons, this curtain has come down.’”

Finnie then mentioned that she asked the media personality if she was “aware”.

But Williams reportedly replied to her, “What are you talking about? Of course, I have the show.”

“It took a little bit of convincing and conversations with the powers that be from her show for her to really understand that the show is no more,” Finnie added.

Wendy Williams struggles with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia

This came as the ex-talk show host’s care team revealed on Thursday, February 22, that she was “diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD)” last year.

In a statement, they noted, “Aphasia, a condition affecting language and communication abilities, and frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder impacting behavior and cognitive functions, have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy's life.”

“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances,” the statement added.

Social media reactions

Meanwhile, people online have showered the 59-year-old with good wishes and love.

A person on Facebook wrote, “Wendy's daytime show was the only one I watched and enjoyed. Hope she has more good days than bad ones.”

Another person wrote, “Get well soon, Wendy. I miss your show. You made me laugh a lot of times when I was down.💕😘💐”

One user shared, “I really enjoyed watching her show. I even watched her own life movies so many times. I think she went through a lot in her life but always she stood up high and was successful. I wish her health and pray for her recovery.”

A user stated, “I am praying for Wendy and her family. I just lost a family member to dementia. It took us a while to figure out what was wrong due to the changes physically and mentally, and the doctor confirmed it. Wendy could have been in the early stages while she was still on TV.”

One user added, “I enjoyed watching her! I am hoping her family takes care of her during this difficult time.”
