Fans in awe as Lenny Kravitz says ex-wife Lisa Bonet will 'never leave' his soul
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lenny Kravitz still has love for his former wife, Lisa Bonet, despite being divorced for over three decades.
The multi-instrumentalist and the actress were married from 1987 to 1993, and they also welcomed their daughter, Zoë Kravitz, in 1988.
However, they divorced in 1993, but it appears that the bond between the two has not completely severed.
Lenny Kravitz credits his success to Lisa Bonet
Kravitz told People, “I am what I am because of our experience, because of everything that I was, everything that she was and everything that came together.”
The former couple initially crossed paths in 1985 at a New Edition concert. Eventually, they started a relationship and began sharing a home.
“I had moved in with Lisa, brought my instruments and things, but somehow forgot my comb,” the 59-year-old recalled.
He continued, “I never planned on dreading, but after a few months my hair was matting. Lisa was like, ‘Keep it. It looks good.’” Kravitz's original identity was simply "Mr Bonet," and he didn't have any issues with it.
He told the publication, “I wasn’t thinking, ‘Oh, this is sexy.’ I was just living and doing. I was married to the most beautiful woman on the planet, incredible inside and out, and I wasn’t paying attention to that.”
“I was paying attention to the music,” the singer-songwriter asserted.
Lenny Kravitz calls his time with Lisa Bonet ‘beautiful’
The ‘I Belong to You’ singer also recalled his days with Bonet and shared, “We were quite the family.”
He further stated, “We had our own groove, expression, fashion. It was a beautiful time. The world Zoë’s mother and I were creating, our family, it was about peace, love, and spirit.”
However, even after separation, Kravitz and the ‘High Fidelity’ star did not let bitterness come between them.
He stated, “The love doesn’t leave you, but it has to find a new way to funnel itself into a new life.”
“We consciously wanted to do that. It took time, believe me, but she is a part of my life that will never leave my heart, my soul, or my spirit. I am what I am because of our experience,” Kravitz added.
