LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Flavor Flav, the 65-year-old rapper known for his role in Public Enemy, has nothing but admiration for Selena Gomez and her openness about her physical and mental health journey.

On Monday, Flav took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his heartfelt praise for the 32-year-old actress, commending her for her strength and willingness to speak candidly about her struggles.

Flavor Flav praises Selena Gomez for her strength

“I don’t know her personally, but Selena Gomez is one of the STRONGEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL people inside and out,” Flav wrote. “I applaud her for being so open about her health and mental health. And I applaud her even more for clapping back at haterz, but she shouldn’t have to.”

His message was met with widespread support, as fans celebrated his kind words toward Gomez, who has been candid about her challenges.

Gomez has been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness, particularly in the wake of her struggles with lupus and bipolar disorder. In 2020, she launched the Rare Impact Fund, which aims to provide mental health resources and support to young people in need.

She also shared her mental and physical health journey in her 2022 documentary, 'My Mind & Me', which offered a vulnerable look at her life, including the battles she's faced with her health.

While it's unclear if Gomez will respond to Flav’s praise, as she’s been using her social media mainly for promoting her work, her openness about her struggles continues to inspire many.

Selena Gomez responds to body shamers, reveals SIBO as cause for weight gain

According to Life and Style, Selena Gomez hit back at body shamers after attending the American French Film Festival, revealing that her weight gain is due to SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth).

In response to negative comments on TikTok, she wrote, “I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”

Selena has been open about her body image struggles, previously sharing that she took a social media break due to criticism and her changing appearance in the public eye.

Selena Gomez’s mental health advocacy and Flavor Flav's support for her friendship with Taylor Swift

In recent years, Selena Gomez has used her platform to advocate for mental health, and her Rare Impact Fund is just one example of how she’s working to bring greater awareness to these issues.

In addition to his praise for Gomez, Flav also shared his excitement about her friendship with pop sensation Taylor Swift. Following his tweet about Gomez, Flav tweeted separately, expressing his admiration for Swift. He even referred to himself as “King Swiftie” after attending one of her concerts in Hamburg, Germany.

“I went and saw her show in Hamburg, [Germany]. She blew that s**t out the water, man. And she gave me a shoutout from the stage,” Flav told 'Politickin’ podcast, according to 'Billboard'. “I love Taylor Swift, man. You know her lyrics, she’s real. She writes about a lot of the things that she’s been through. She keeps it real with her fan base and that’s why I support her, big-time.”

However, In an interview with 'Vanity Fair', the 'Only Murders in the Building' star and former Disney actress revealed that she had always planned to start a family by the time she turned 35. "I haven't ever said this, but I unfortunately can't carry my own children," she shared.

Flav has also been an outspoken supporter of Swift, especially when former President Donald Trump criticized her for endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

In September, Flav came to her defense, stating that “no one should be hating on Taylor” and expressing his admiration for her activism and authenticity.
