Foo Fighters pledges song's royalty to Harris campaign after Trump's unauthorized use at rally
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Foo Fighters have reportedly decided to give away all of their ‘My Hero’ royalties to Kamala Harris-Tim Walz’s campaign after Donald Trump allegedly used it during one of his recent rallies without permission.
The Republican leader reportedly played the 1997 song last Friday, August 23, while welcoming his political rival-turned-backer Robert F Kennedy Jr in Glendale, Arizona.
A spokesperson for the band said, on Monday, August 26, as per PEOPLE, “Foo Fighters were not asked permission and if they were, they would not have granted it.”
They also asserted that “any royalties received as a result of this use will be donated” to Harris and his running mate Walz’s campaign, as per USA Today.
Besides, in a post on X, Foo Fighters made things clearer by sharing an interaction with a user who asked, "Hey @foofighters, did you let Trump use 'My Hero' to welcome RFK Jr. on stage.”
They simply replied, “No,” while captioning the screenshot as “Let us be clear.”
Donald Trump accused of using songs without permission by other artists
However, this was not the first time Trump was accused of using songs without permission as earlier this month Celine Dion's team slammed Trump’s campaign for using ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a ‘My Heart Will Go On’ rally.
In a statement posted on social media, the team said, “Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana.”

“In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use. …And really, THAT song?” they added.
Isaac Hayes’ family also rebuked Trump for playing ‘Hold On, I'm Comin’ at his rallies without authorization.
Isaac Hayes III said, as per USA Today, “Donald Trump epitomizes a lack of integrity and class, not only through his continuous use of my father's music without permission but also through his history of sexual abuse against women and his racist rhetoric.”
“This behavior will no longer be tolerated, and we will take swift action to put an end to it,” he stated.
