Fox News' Lawrence Jones pushes conspiracy theories about Biden’s letter announcing exit from 2024 race
WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden made a historic decision on July 21 to end his campaign for re-election, a move that surprised many. However, Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones chose to focus on a conspiracy theory rather than accepting the announcement at face value.
Jones's skepticism about the legitimacy of Biden’s withdrawal has sparked controversy, as he asserted that the President may not have been involved in the drafting or signing of the letter.
Lawrence Jones doubts Joe Biden’s exit announcement
Lawrence Jones expressed well-wishes for Joe Biden’s health but quickly veered into unfounded speculation about the authenticity of the announcement.
He claimed without evidence that “he clearly didn’t write” the letter, and suggested that the absence of video footage of the signing was suspicious.
Jones remarked, “I’m personally over the tears in the sadness. I mean, if there’s anyone that should be crying is the American people. We’re the ones have been lied to for over, what, three years about the moment."
"Obviously, you know, I wish the president well. I want his health to be in order. I think that should be the main priority of the country right now, making sure that he gets the help that he needs. But again, we still have not seen Joe Biden. There was no video. There was no photo of the moment. All we got is a statement that he clearly didn’t write," he added.
Jones further drew a comparison between Biden’s situation and that of the late Senator Dianne Feinstein, who remained in office until her death despite declining health.
Lawrence Jones draws parallels between Joe Biden’s situation
He recounted how Senator Dianne Feinstein's staff released a retirement statement on her behalf while she was unable to engage with the media, implying that Biden’s lack of direct communication was similarly disingenuous, “And, you know, no offense to the president, but this reminds me of the moment when Dianne Feinstein was going down and she was ill. Everybody knew that she was ill. And the staff put out the statement about her retirement. And so all the Capitol Hill reporters started questioning to go, you know, ‘Madam Senator, you know, you just put out the statement’ as she retired and she goes, ‘What statement?’ She didn’t know the statement at the time because obviously, she was ill at the time."
He continued, "I don’t think it’s too much for us to request some type of press conference or some type of video from the commander-in-chief to figure out if he’s the one who really signed this letter.”
Biden is currently recovering from Covid at his Rehoboth Beach house, which explains the absence of a public appearance or press conference regarding his decision to withdraw from the reelection campaign.
Sources close to the situation have indicated that Biden plans to address the nation about his decision in the near future, though no specific date for this announcement has been set.
