NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News contributor Trey Gowdy defended President Donald Trump on Thursday, November 20, hours after the POTUS accused six Democratic lawmakers of "seditious behavior" that is "punishable by death".

On Tuesday, those six lawmakers, who served in the military or the intelligence services, released a video telling Americans currently serving in those capacities to "refuse illegal orders".

The six Democrats in the video are Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Sen Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Rep Jason Crow (D-CO), Rep Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Rep Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), and Rep Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA).

The lawmakers said, "You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders", while reading lines from a joint statement.

Following this, Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, "It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET. President DJT."

In a second post, Trump added, "This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP??? President DJT."

"SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!", the POTUS mentioned in a third post.

Moreover, Trump also reposted several posts slamming the Democrats, and in one he said, "Indict all of them", and wrote in another, "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

On Thursday, Fox News' Bret Baier asked Trey Gowdy, a former Republican member of Congress, for a reaction on 'Special Report'. Gowdy slammed the Democratic lawmakers while defending Trump.

He said, "I’m sure he meant after a trial by your peers, a jury trial by your peers, and after you have been found guilty. I mean, it was a stupid video."

"Look, you can’t get put to death for making a stupid video, or I’d be dead. I understand why the president is upset. It was a dumb video. I would advise him to ignore it," Gowdy added.

Video sparks fury in Trump administration

Sen Elissa Slotkin wrote in the caption of the video, "We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community. The American people need you to stand up for our laws and our Constitution. Don’t give up the ship."

The group warned in the video that "this administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens."

"Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear: You can refuse illegal orders… You must refuse illegal orders. We have your back," they added.

Moreover, several participants closed the message by repeating the Navy phrase, "Don’t give up the ship".
