The tweet accompanied with the caption saying, "The Colemans are back and coming to theaters in 2025! The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!"

During an interview with People, Lohan expressed her excitement while discussing the project, and also she confirmed that the sequel was in development. She eagerly anticipated reuniting with Curtis, describing their collaboration as both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling.

"We talk almost every other day in general, so I think we're going to have a lot of fun with this," Lohan said. The actress, best known for her roles in ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘The Parent Trap’, hinted that the sequel might explore further aspects of the characters' journeys.

Whereas Curtis, known for her versatile acting career spanning comedy and horror, also reflected on their reunion. She reminisced about their simple friendship and recalled their initial meeting and the read-through for 'Freaky Friday'.

"We met in an office, did the read-through, and it was game on in a big way. I had to let go of every control mechanism and just let it fly," said Curtis.

Curtis praised Lohan's natural talent and on-screen presence while applauding her acting skills.

"Lindsay was as fluid as I was. If you look at 'The Parent Trap', she has a facility as an actor that is really impressive. It was a big job. It was a big production. And our relationship was very easy."
