Gal Gadot reveals she had 'massive blood clot' in her brain during fourth pregnancy
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gal Gadot, who gave birth to her fourth daughter Ori earlier this year, shocked fans after she revealed in a lengthy post that she had suffered a "massive" blood clot in the eighth month of her pregnancy.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, December 29, the 'Wonder Woman' star, 39, described the "terrifying truth" she encountered after suffering from "excruciating headaches" during her pregnancy with her daughter Ori.
Gal Gadot 'pulls back the curtain' on a health scare she faced during eighth month of pregnancy
Gal Gadot revealed that she was opening up to her fans and followers about her struggles to raise awareness about cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), a rare but serious condition in which a blood clot develops in a cerebral vein in the brain.
Gadot shared a photo of herself and her daughter from the hospital bed. She is seen in the photo holding a cup of black coffee in one hand while gazing at her newborn longingly.
The 'Heart of Stone' star began her post by writing, "This year has been one of profound challenges and deep reflections, and I've wrestled with how, or even if, to share a personal story. At the end, I decided to let my heart guide me."
She continued, "Perhaps this is my way of processing everything, of pulling back the curtain on the fragile reality behind the curated moments we share on social media. Most of all, I hope that by sharing, I can raise awareness and support others who may face something similar."
Sharing vivid details about her agonizing pain and ordeal, Gadot wrote, "In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain. For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth."
The 'Red Notice' actress went on to say that the health scare was a "stark reminder of how quickly everything can change" and how "fragile life can be."
"In the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live," the mother of four, who is married to Jaron Varsano, added.
Gadot revealed that she was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery, during which she gave birth to her daughter Ori, who is currently nine months old.
Gadot, who announced her daughter's birth in early March, explained why she named her Ori, as per Page Six.
She wrote, "Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told [my husband] Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel."
Gadot went on to express gratitude to the "extraordinary team of doctors" at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. She also encouraged people to pay attention to their bodies, before sharing that she is now "fully healed and filled with gratitude for the life I’ve been given back."
The actress stressed that her post was "not meant to frighten anyone but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing."
Gadot and her film producer spouse are also proud parents to three other daughters: Daniella, three, Maya, seven, and Alma, 13.
