Garth Brooks slammed as he considers fleeing the US after being accused of assault
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Country music legend Garth Brooks, 62, is considering relocating to Ireland with his wife, Trisha Yearwood, following accusations of sexual assault.
The move comes amid swirling controversy and ongoing legal battles that have placed the singer under intense public scrutiny, as per Daily Mail.
The pair’s potential relocation was revealed during an episode of Brooks’ Facebook Live series, 'Studio G', where he shared that Yearwood, 60, is “pushing hard” for a new start overseas.
“The Queen fell head over heels in love with Ireland,” Brooks said, recounting their time in the country during his 2022 tour.
However, this plan to leave the United States has ignited critical reactions online, with critics questioning his intentions amid the recent assault allegations.
Garth Brooks denies recent assault accusations against him
The controversy began in early October when an unnamed woman, identified only as “Jane Roe” in court documents, filed a lawsuit in California, accusing Garth Brooks of sexual assault.
She claims the incident took place in 2019, alleging that Brooks invited her to Los Angeles for a Grammy event in honor of R&B artist Sam Moore and arranged for them to stay in the same hotel suite.
Brooks, however, has categorically denied the accusations, describing them as an “extortion attempt.”
In a statement to Daily Mail, he condemned the allegations as “hush money” tactics, aimed at coercing him into a settlement.
“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars,” he told the outlet.
Emphasizing his refusal to admit to “behavior [he is] incapable of,” Brooks said, “Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money.”
He went on to explain that he had previously filed a complaint under the pseudonym “John Doe” to maintain privacy for both families involved.
“We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character,” he added. “This situation has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.”
Brooks maintains that he is committed to letting the legal system handle the matter, insisting, “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
Brooks’ family has publicly supported him, expressing confidence in his innocence.
In the aftermath of the allegations, Yearwood and Brooks’ three daughters—Taylor, August, and Allie—have reportedly backed the singer, believing that he is “telling the truth.”
A source close to the family spoke to Us Weekly, affirming, “Garth is known to be a very kind and nice man, so these allegations are very shocking. Everyone around him, including Trisha and his daughters, believe him to be telling the truth.”
