Geena Davis shares ‘Mae’ tribute to Madonna after Coachella reunion
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reunions carry a certain nostalgia, and when they unfold at Coachella, they feel even more memorable. Madonna and Geena Davis recently crossed paths again in Indio, California, following their surprise appearances at the festival.
The two ‘A League of Their Own’ co-stars were spotted during Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella set on Friday, April 17, where they posed together in costumes worn for the show segment. The moment stood out not just for the setting, but for what it represented—more than three decades since the film first brought them together.
Days later, Davis, 70, shared a backstage photo on Instagram on April 22, adding a caption that leaned into their on-screen bond: “Mae - so happy to see you again! Love, Dottie.”

The image showed the two smiling together, slipping back into the dynamic that defined their characters—Dorothy “Dottie” Hinson and Mae Mordabito. Their reunion drew attention because it echoed the legacy of the 1992 sports comedy that remains a fan favorite.
Set during World War II, ‘A League of Their Own’ followed a group of women recruited into a professional baseball league while men were away at war. The story centered on Dottie and Kit, along with a team determined to prove themselves on the field.
The film featured a notable ensemble cast, including Tom Hanks, Lori Petty, Jon Lovitz, David Strathairn, Garry Marshall, and Bill Pullman. It also picked up accolades such as the American Comedy Award for Funniest Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.

The mix of nostalgia and excitement turned the reunion into a widely shared highlight from the festival weekend.
Geena Davis and Madonna appear during Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella set
At Coachella, Davis first surprised the audience by appearing as an older version of Sabrina Carpenter’s character, humorously introduced as “Aunt Sabrina,” delivering a mid-show monologue.
Interestingly, she stepped into a role previously performed by her ‘Thelma & Louise’ co-star Susan Sarandon, who had joined Carpenter on stage the weekend before.
As Sabrina Carpenter’s set neared its finale, she brought Madonna onto the stage. The 26-year-old singer performed ‘Juno’ before Madonna made her entrance. Together, they delivered high-energy renditions of Madonna’s classic hits ‘Vogue’ and ‘Like a Prayer.’
The performance ended on a surprise note with a track believed to be from Madonna’s upcoming ‘Confessions II’ project, a follow-up to her acclaimed 2005 album ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor.’
