George Clooney’s broken promise after failure of first marriage may be reason behind his current success
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: George Clooney was pretty sure he would never marry before he met his wife, Amal Clooney (nee Alamuddin), a prominent human rights attorney.
Sources have revealed that George's choice to marry Amal keeps him "young", as he would have been constantly dozing off and might not have had the same success in his later years if it were not for her, per Daily Mail.
George Clooney breaks a promise but it does him good
George Clooney famously promised journalist Barbara Walters that he would never get married again after his first marriage to Talia Balsam ended in the early 1990s.
But everything changed when the 63-year-old 'Ocean's Eleven' actor met 46-year-old human rights attorney Amal in 2013; the two married less than a year after their romance began.
The two hit it off right away when a mutual friend introduced them over dinner at George's house in Italy. After exchanging emails for several months, George and Amal eventually met up for their first date in London.
After that, the couple's life progressed swiftly. George surprised her with a proposal less than a year after they first met.
"George and his first wife Talia Balsam divorced in 1993. That’s when he swore off marriage," a source told the Mail.
They added, "He played the field for years. That was until he fell in love with Amal and married her over ten years ago."
George feels "young and very active" and sleeps less as a result of Amal's influence, the insider spilled.
The source went on to explain how the Oscar nominee has been influenced by their age difference, saying, "She's seventeen years his junior and makes him feel youthful again. Ella and Alexander also keep him young and very active."
"If it wasn’t for Amal and the kids he says he’d be taking naps whenever he could and not leading the type of exciting life he does now," they said.
"Most days usually start at the crack of dawn for George and Amal with the twins running into their bedroom and jumping on the bed."
The source added: "Amal doesn’t let George go back to sleep. They both play with Ella and Alexander, then she gets him up and they go for a long walk. Before Amal came into his life he’d sleep in if he wasn’t working. Now he doesn’t have the choice and he loves it."
Amal Clooney improved husband George Clooney's eating habits
George Clooney's eating habits have improved; he no longer skips breakfast and has stopped eating pasta every day. The insider said, "Amal throws together a light, healthy breakfast. George would usually skip breakfast before she came into his life."
"Amal's also switched up a lot of George’s diet. He still loves pasta, but it’s not a daily thing anymore. It’s a treat. They don’t eat out that much. When they do it’s usually sushi. At home it’s mainly proteins," the source added.
They said, "They work out together and George loves it. Pre Amal he had a tendency to put on a little weight. Not anymore, when he knows he has to be seen next to his beautiful wife."
With several projects planned for the upcoming year, including his Broadway debut as Edward R Murrow in 'Good Night' and 'Good Luck Next Spring', the Hollywood star's career has been thriving despite his focus on family life.
George's conflicted feelings about marriage began in 1984 when he first met his ex-wife, Talia, with the couple getting married in 1989. However, after only three years, their relationship began to falter, and the actor filed for divorce in 1992.
George stated in interviews following the divorce that he still wanted to raise children even though he no longer desired marriage.
He swiftly rose to prominence as Hollywood's most eligible and possibly most desirable bachelor after the divorce, but in April 2014, he shocked fans by proposing to Amal.
The couple welcomed twins Ella and Alexander on June 6, 2017.
