Ghislaine Maxwell refutes Elon Musk's claim he doesn't know her, says they partied in Caribbean earlier

WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk might be in hot water after Jeffrey Epstein’s notorious associate Ghislaine Maxwell claimed she did, in fact, meet the Tesla CEO.

Maxwell contradicted Musk’s denials in a fresh set of DOJ transcripts. She said they first crossed paths at a lavish island birthday bash for Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Caribbean party connection

“I met him in — I don’t remember the year, but it’s going to be in 2010, ’11, something like that, I think, if my memory serves,” Ghislaine Maxwell, 63, told Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in taped July interviews, according to transcripts released on Friday, August 22.

Maxwell said Musk was among 30 to 50 big names celebrating Brin’s birthday for “three or four days” on a Caribbean island.

“Mr Musk was present for that,” she confirmed.

The said party happened more than a decade before Maxwell was sentenced in 2022 to 20 years behind bars for sex trafficking minors.

Ghislane Maxwell also told Todd Blanche she later spotted Elon Musk at an Oscars party, seemingly Vanity Fair’s star-studded bash on March 2, 2014. Sure enough, Musk and Maxwell were snapped together that night, a photo that has haunted him ever since. 

Despite the overlap, Maxwell insisted she had no inside scoop on Musk’s dealings with Epstein beyond a few emails dug up during discovery.

But she did make another eyebrow-raising claim. “[He knew] Mr Musk’s brother as well,” she said of Epstein. “But I don’t — my — like I said, my memory is not — it’s not as good as I would like it to be.”

That brother, Kimbal Musk, reportedly had his own Epstein ties. Business Insider reported in 2020 that Epstein once set him up with a girlfriend.

Elon Musk has always brushed off any Ghislaine Maxwell connection. “Don’t know Ghislaine at all," he posted on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020. "She photobombed me once at a Vanity Fair party several years ago. Real question is why VF invited her in the first place.”

Meanwhile, his frenemy history with Sergey Brin complicates things further.

The Wall Street Journal revealed Epstein was advising Brin in 2007 on a tax-saving trust for his children. Musk was accused in 2022 of having an affair with Brin’s then-wife, Nicole Shanahan, who later served as Robert F Kennedy Jr’s 2024 running mate.

Musk denied the fling, but WSJ reported Brin allegedly dumped his stakes in all Musk’s companies after the rumored betrayal.

Ghislaine Maxwell’s revelations dropped right in the middle of another MAGA infighting episode. Trump’s own supporters are fuming that his administration hasn’t released the Epstein files, while Musk has been one of the loudest voices demanding their disclosure.

That crusade heated up after Musk’s falling-out with Trump in May, when his role as a special government employee was suddenly cut short. The spat turned ugly, with Trump threatening Musk’s government contracts and Musk claiming Trump’s name appeared in the Epstein files.

The SpaceX CEO later deleted the post, admitting he’d gone “too far.”

Trump brushed it off, telling reporters Musk was a “good person” who just had a “really bad moment.”

As for Maxwell, she made the claims over a two-day sit-down with Blanche in Tallahassee, Florida, before being moved to a minimum-security prison in Bryan, Texas.
