During 'Watch What Happens Live' on Wednesday, August 7, host Andy Cohen addressed a fan question in which Gina Gershon, 62, was asked if she and Tom Cruise had ever gotten intimate while shooting.
Gershon firmly dismissed it but she claimed to have filmed her "first love scene ever" with the 'Mission Impossible' star, 62.
Gershon said Cruise "totally" looked after her during the movie, but she acknowledged that there was a time when she couldn't say the same about her looking after him.
Recalling how they filmed the love scene, "At one point, he starts off under the covers, and I told him I was very ticklish, I said 'No, no, don’t ever do that,'" Gershon recalled playing Coral opposite Cruise's Brian Flanagan.
The actress explained, "In one take I have to say… I think he wanted a reaction, he grabbed my stomach and I kneed him right in the nose."
"I was like, ‘Oh, my god, I just broke Tom Cruise’s nose.’ He’s like ‘No, no you told me.' I was like 'I’m so sorry’, he was like ‘No, it was my fault.’"
Gershon stated that Cruise remained "protective" of her during their 1988 filming even after she had "kneed him right in the nose" while filming the love scene.
"He was great. He kept covering me up. He was a gentleman."
Cruise portrayed Brian Flanagan in 'Cocktail', a business student who turns to bartend to make ends meet. Gina Gershon played a photographer with whom Cruise had a brief romance, while Elisabeth Shue played his romantic interest in the movie.
Despite receiving unfavorable reviews from critics and winning two Razzie Awards for Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay, the movie made $171.5 million worldwide, per Independent.
Tom Cruise's first wife Mimi Rogers was present on 'Cocktail' set
While Gina Gershon reflected on her first-ever romantic scene with Tom Cruise on the 1988 romantic comedy 'Cocktail' set, she revealed to host Andy Cohen that Cruise's first wife, fellow actress Mimi Rogers, "was very present".
Gershon quipped, "He had just gotten married, and his wife was very present. [She] said, ‘Hi, nice to meet you.’"
However, Gershon pointed out that the stars continued to do their roles in spite of Rogers' presence, per the New York Post.
"But we did kiss as much as we could. Every scene it was like, ‘Should we kiss in the scene? Oh yeah, I think we should kiss.’ It was my first love scene ever," the 'Breathless' actress quipped.
Cruise and Rogers first crossed paths in 1985, when he was 23 and the 'Gung Ho' actress was 29. Two years later, they got married.
However, the couple divorced in February 1990, after Cruise raved to Rolling Stone a month earlier about his ex-wife.
