Gisele Bundchen’s remark about wanting large family resurfaces amid news of pregnancy with Joaquim Valente
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gisele Bundchen - who is already a mother of two with her ex-husband Tom Brady - is reportedly expecting her third child with boyfriend Joaquim Valente.
While this baby is her first baby with Valente after they started dating in 2023, her pregnancy comes after she previously expressed her hopes of having a “big family.”
In a resurfaced interview from 2009, the 44-year-old Brazilian supermodel expressed her desire to have a big family like her parents.
Gisele Bundchen wanted to have a big family
The former Victoria’s Secrets Angel is already a mother to her son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11, whom she shares with retired NFL star Tom Brady. Brady is also a father to his son Jack, 17, whom he welcomed with ex Bridget Moynahan.
On Monday, October 28, a source close to Bundchen confirmed with People that the supermodel is pregnant with her first child with Valente, who is a Brazilian-born jiu-jitsu instructor.
As the happy news of her pregnancy broke, an old interview of Bundchen with Harper’s Bazaar also resurfaced where the mother-of-two expressed her desire for a large family, per Daily Mail.
In 2009, the supermodel told the publication, “I want to have a big family.”
She elaborated, “My parents have been together for 36 years, and that is what I want,” and added, “I am in that place. It's all good in that part of my life.”
“It's one part of my life that I'm learning about every day,” continued Bundchen, before noting, “I've been challenged a lot by it, but it's the most rewarding part.”
The news of Bundchen’s shock pregnancy broke on Monday, when an insider shared with People, “Gisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and they're looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family.”
Moreover, TMZ reported that she is five or six months along, and is waiting until the birth of their child to know the baby’s gender.
Gisele Bundchen previously opened up about motherhood
Earlier in January, Gisele Bundchen once again opened up about motherhood and the advice she gives to her young ones during another interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
Advising her children to navigate the world on their own, the supermodel recalled telling them, “The way you make your room, the way you organize and make your bed is the way you're going to do your life. If you're not learning here and now, then when and with who?”

The new chapter of her motherhood also came after she finalized her divorce from her husband of 13 years, Tom Brady.
She continued in the interview, “Sometimes, I get pushback, especially because now they're in two different homes and there are two different ways. But I feel like I owe it to my kids, because of what my mom taught me.”
Regarding her personal life - including her messy divorce and subsequent relationship with Valente - Bundchen said, “I can't really worry about what other people say about me because what they say about me is none of my business.”
“It's really their business that they're trying to project onto me,” added the resilient mother, before continuing, “If I'm going to be affected by that, I'm never going to live my truth.”
