'Golden Bachelor's divorcing pair Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist always fought and 'never' lived together, source reveals

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The marriage of reality TV stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, known for their appearance on the 'Golden Bachelor', has been a battleground since the beginning, according to a source.

The couple, who never lived together have been fighting since their wedding three months ago.

The relationship was doomed from the start. “It was never going to work,” a source close to the couple told People.

The insider further added that they “never lived together," adding “things have been tough for months,” and that the couple has been “fighting since right after the wedding.”

On April 12, Turner, 74, and Nist, 70, appeared together for a joint interview on 'Good Morning America', where they announced their plan to “dissolve” their marriage.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation," Turner said.

"Our living situation, so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage," he added.

When journalist Juju Chang asked whether that meant a “divorce,” Turner confirmed, “Yes," to which Chang replied in shock “Three months after getting married?”

“I mean, what the heck, guys?” she asked later in the interview.

Before his marriage to Nist, Turner, an Indiana retiree, had been married to his high school sweetheart, Toni, for 43 years. She passed away in 2017 following a short illness as per New York Times.

Despite their decision to end their marriage, Turner and Nist confirmed they’re still very much in love.

They also maintained it wasn’t pressure from the public after their love story, and subsequent lavish, televised wedding, that led to their split.

Turner expressed his continued love for Nist, saying, “I still love this person. There’s no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. I root for her every day,” as Nist added, “I still love him.”

They also revealed they were "100 percent committed to making it work," but according to Turner it was "best for the happiness of each of us to live apart."
