LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Despite having almost 100 credits between them, mother-daughter duo Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson have never appeared together on screen.

Sources recently revealed to RadarOnline that Hawn is frantically trying to keep it that way despite her name being linked to the sequel of Hudson's beloved romantic comedy, 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days'.

Goldie Hawn fears she would argue or fight with her daughter Kate Hudson while working on screen

Although she would like to collaborate with her 45-year-old daughter, the 'Overboard' actress, 79, reportedly admitted that the expectations would be too high.

As interest in a potential follow-up to Hudson's beloved romantic comedy 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' grows, the project has also been linked to her well-known mother Hawn.

According to sources, Hawn is apparently still undecided about joining because the storyline of the 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' sequel involves a "very strained relationship" between Hudson's character and her mother.

"Goldie is worried she will find it really hard to play a mother who is at odds with her daughter," an insider revealed.

Hudson, 45, and Matthew McConaughey, 55, are reportedly involved in the project, which has the working title 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – Again'.

According to a tipster, Hudson is putting in extra effort behind the scenes to persuade Hawn to accompany her in the forthcoming project.

"Kate's working her magic, but Goldie still has her reservations. She's concerned that it might ruin their perfect mother-daughter relationship," the source noted, adding, "In fact, her first reaction was, 'No way, not ever.' She loves her family and doesn't want to rock the boat for a career boost."

Another insider previously told the Daily Mail, "The only reason Goldie is not 100 percent ready to sign on is that in the new movie the two have a very strained relationship. In real life, Kate and Goldie are more like sisters than mother and daughter. They share all their secrets and Goldie was even at the birth of Kate's three children."

"Kate’s begging her to do it but Goldie still hasn’t fully committed yet," they added.

Hudson also believes that it would be even better if her mother, a seasoned comic actor, were on the cast.

A source told RadarOnline, "Kate thinks this is the perfect vehicle to bring Goldie back onto the world stage. She's been regulated to Christmas movies and it's not good enough in Kate's eyes."

"Looking at how older stars like Pamela Anderson have reinvented themselves, Katie wants Goldie to have another chance at proving how talented she is," they added.

Not to mention the inevitable comic chemistry that will develop if Hudson, McConaughey, and Hawn collaborate on this film.

"Everyone loves the latest script. With or without Goldie, it's looking like they've got a hit on their hands. But Katie would love to bring her mom along for the ride," the mole concluded.

'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' sequel expected to begin production this year

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey were asked to reprise their roles in a 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' sequel—21 years after their characters unintentionally fell in love amid a maelstrom of deceit and mind games.

The much-awaited follow-up appears to follow Hudson's character Andie Anderson as she gets ready to marry McConaughey's character Benjamin Barry while also addressing her strained relationship with her mother.

Hudson initially hinted at the possibility of a 'How to Lose a Guy' sequel early in 2024, stating, "All that matter would be the script, and if Matthew and I were into it. We're both totally open – it's just never happened."

Although McConaughey has recently shifted his roles from romantic comedies to more serious ones, he also said that he would like to reprise the role.

"I mean, 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' is teed up – you could easily do a sequel. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one," the actor previously said.

The much-anticipated sequel is expected to begin production this year.
