LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pop sensation Lizzo clarified on Tuesday, April 2, that she was not quitting music. This came days after the singer set the Internet and fans into a frenzy with a cryptic message she posted on Instagram.

The singer said her initial post and "I QUIT" statement wasn't about the music industry, but about how she wants to stop "giving any negative energy attention."

What did Lizzo say?

The singer known for 'About Damn Time' shocked everyone with a sudden announcement last week, however in a recent IG reel she said, "What I'm not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting with people."

She added, "Because I know I'm not alone. In no way shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice which seems to be louder than the positive?"

Throughout her career, the Grammy-winning singer has endured body-shaming remarks and been accused of workplace harassment.

As per CBS, Lizzo was sued by a few of her former dancers last year, alleging racial and sexual harassment. A former worker claimed in a different lawsuit that the performer supported a toxic workplace where employees faced bullying, discrimination, and harassment.

Lizzo seemed to be responding to both the allegations and the body-shaming in her post.

She said, "All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it," adding "But I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it. I'm constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views... being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look...my character being picked apart by people who don't know me and disrespecting my name."

Internet slams Lizzo for making cryptic post

Several social media users slammed Lizzo for using the announcement to get attention. A Facebook user wrote, "That's what I said right from the beginning! Well it worked, she got the attention she was seeking!"

A user wrote, "Once she found out no one cared she changed her tune." The next user wrote, "She realized no one cared so she put the grace and mercy out and tried again."

A user wrote, "And just when we thought the world was getting back to normal." A user even said, "We were so close to peace."

The next user said, "I wish celebrities would just say "I need attention" it would be better." While the next user said, "In other words, she needed more publicity." A user wrote, "She got the attention she wanted!!"
