WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld, who often makes headlines for his right-leaning statements, took on liberals and advised them on ways to “spend less time and effort being so miserable.”
In an appearance on the Wednesday, May 6, edition of The Five, Gutfeld expressed his frustration over liberals for avoiding friendship with Trump supporters and spoke at length about President Donald Trump’s Oval Office appearance.
Greg Gutfeld blames liberals’ for friendship fallout with Trump supporters
Greg Gutfeld talked at length about Trump, why children like him, as he called out liberals, for hating people who support Trump.
Gutfeld expressed his disbelief at the “fractious relationships” created by supporting the president. He talked about why liberals were not able to be friends with Trump supporters. He asked liberals why they hated Greg when he was fine with their dislike of Trump.
“Why aren’t you okay with me liking him?” he said.
“If you can just look in the mirror and answer that question, liberals, you would feel so much better. Why does it bother you that people like Trump? Perhaps there is a larger role in your dissatisfaction.”
Greg Gutfeld suggested that liberals are emotionally driven in their dislike for Donald Trump and argued that they might be less miserable if they moved past those feelings.
“It might be your own personal resentments. It may play a large role emotionally in how you feel about Trump. Maybe if you get over that, you’ll spend less time and effort being so miserable.”
Gutfeld reveals he lost friends over politics
During a discussion about how political differences are affecting personal relationships in America, Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld spoke about people losing friends and loved ones over politics.
Introducing the topic on the show, Watters said “Trump Derangement Syndrome” was becoming a major reason behind political break-ups in the country. He cited research claiming that more than one-third of Americans have lost a loved one because of political disagreements.
Watters then pointed out that Gutfeld had raised a similar issue the previous day and asked him to share his thoughts again.
Responding to the discussion, Gutfeld struck a personal tone and said he had experienced losing friends over politics himself, telling his co-hosts, “I’ve been through this.”
‘He’s kind of great with people,’ says Greg about Trump
Greg discussed Trump’s Tuesday, May 5, Oval Office appearance to sign a proclamation on the Presidential Fitness Test Award, where he was surrounded by children.
During the discussion, Greg Gutfeld praised Donald Trump for not sugarcoating war developments to children and for telling them the “specifics.”
“I love how he doesn’t talk down to kids. He told them the specifics. The grisly facts about war. Now you could argue he should have tamped it down, but it speaks to the nature of Trump in that his critics get wrong, which is that he doesn’t talk down or condescend,” Greg Gutfeld said.
Greg said that Trump doesn’t care about identity, whether someone is a child or a woman. “He doesn’t care if you are gay, nonbinary, Asian, black, Mexican, a woodland nymph; he doesn’t see identity.”
Greg further said that Trump was good with children because “he is kind of great with people,” and asked why liberals care if he likes Trump.
