LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gwen Stefani is reflecting on the past with her latest single 'Somebody Else’s' from her upcoming album 'Bouquet'.

The 54-year-old singer dropped the country-rock track on Friday, September 20, where she apparently looks back on a last relationship and explains why she’s happier without her past lover.

Gwen Stefani new song 'Somebody Else’s' details her heartbreak and healing

Gwen Stefani sings about leaving behind an ex-lover who is now “somebody else’s problem,” signaling that she's moved on to something better.

The song continues her exploration of heartache and healing, something fans have noticed in her recent work.

Stefani doesn’t hold back as she recalls why her previous relationship had to end.

"I don’t know what a heart like mine was doin’ in a love like that," she sings, "I don’t know what a woman like me was doing with a man like you / But now I got a love so true," hinting at her newfound happiness.

In the chorus, Stefani makes it clear that her past romance no longer occupies her mind.

“Now that I’ve found the real thing / You don’t compare / And I don’t care that you’re somebody else’s / And it doesn’t even break my heart / You’re somebody else’s / And I pray for them whoever they are," Stefani sang, revealing her peace with moving on.

The two were together for 20 years and married for nearly 13 years before they split in 2015.

Stefani and Rossdale, who share three sons, Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10, have since moved on.

Stefani is now happily married to country star Blake Shelton, after meeting him on the set of 'The Voice' in 2014 and tying the knot in July 2021. Rossdale, on the other hand, has been linked to electro-pop artist Xhoana X since May.

Gwen Stefani has not directly addressed her split from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale

Gwen Stefani has not directly addressed her past relationship with Gavin Rossdale in the public eye, however, Rossdale has spoken about the difficulties of co-parenting after their divorce.

"The biggest thing would be when you see the kids that sometimes there’s a loss," Rossdale said during a March episode of the 'Amy & TJ' podcast.

He added, "It’d be nice if there was sort of more of a connection with the person who made them with me."

Reflecting on the divorce’s impact on their children, Rossdale noted, “It can be quite debilitating for kids. The overriding thing is you don’t want to let your kids down,” revealing his concerns about how the split may have affected their sons.

Meanwhile, Stefani and Blake Shelton remain strong. "Gwen and Blake are doing amazing," a source told US Weekly in July, adding, "They’re more in love than ever."
