Gwen Stefani wants to ‘quit’ ‘The Voice’ as she plans ‘next chapter’ with husband Blake Shelton: Source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gwen Stefani is reportedly planning the “next chapter” of her life after getting inspired by husband Blake Shelton.
But to do so, the 55-year-old songstress is seemingly “quitting” ‘The Voice’. As Season 26 of the NBC music reality show came to an end, a source close to the songstress shared that she was “crying a lot this season” and had been emotional throughout the season.
Stefani, who served as a coach in the recently concluded season, was joined by other musical maestros including Reba McIntyre, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Buble as the other coaches. However, as per the sources, this season may be her last, as Stefani may follow her husband’s lead and relinquish her coaching duties with ‘The Voice’.
Gwen Stefani may leave ‘The Voice’
Gwen Stefani, who joined ‘The Voice’ in Season 7, and further graced the judge’s chair in seasons 9, 12, 17, 19, 22, and 24, is likely to throw the towel of judging duties.
Speaking to the US Sun, the source shared that the ‘Hollaback Girl’ has become emotional multiple times while filming the season. “She has said several times while filming that she’s even more of an ‘emotional wreck’ this season than she ever has been,” dished the source.
They further added, “It was nonstop emotions, crying throughout this entire journey, but you can tell it’s mostly rooted in joy and deep pride for the work she’s done.”
The mole further shared that while the 'No Doubt' frontwoman has not yet announced her departure, “it seems like she’s quitting.”
The source revealed that the reason for Stefani to leave the job would be her desire to spend more time with her husband.
Shelton, 48, who was a staple in ‘The Voice’ quit his coaching duties in Season 24. Now, Stefani is likely to follow the same path, says the source. “Gwen wants to spend more time with her family now that Blake is off the show,” the insider revealed.
They further noted that Shelton’s decision has inspired her to ponder on her future. “She really found a second home in Oklahoma, and seeing Blake walk away from the show and prioritize his own music and their family life I think made her realize what her next chapter can look like,” explained the insider.
They further noted that Stefani, who was already an “emotional wreck” during the season, was also found to be visibly nervous while performing with her mentee and ‘The Voice’ Season 26 finalist Sydney Sterlace.
“She looked really, really nervous before performing which most likely led to the mistake,” added the source, before noting, “She was able to recover well, though.”
Gwen Stefani says Blake Shelton’s decision to quit ‘The Voice’ was ‘huge family choice’
While Gwen Stefani’s decision is not yet confirmed, previously she attributed Blake Shelton’s decision to leave ‘The Voice’ after Season 24 to be a “huge family choice.”
The stars tied the knot in 2021, and have since then moved to Oklahoma with their family.
After the ‘God’s Country’ star’s departure, Stefani said in an interview, “I am happy for him because he has space to do all these other hobbies and things he wants to do,” per Showbiz CheatSheet.
In another interview with Extra, she said, that since he was filming the show twice a year, it was taking a lot of “time away from the family.”
She explained, “I don’t know that people realize, if he’s doing two seasons a year, right?” before adding, “In between that, he’s touring. So, he actually has two teams at the same time at a certain point, so they overlap. So, it’s a lot of brain power, it’s a lot of time away from the family, those kinds of things.”
