LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have been leaning on each other as they adjust to the new phase of life with their kids, Apple and Moses, moving out, and this rekindled closeness has reportedly left their current partners, Dakota Johnson and Brad Falchuk, feeling sidelined.

According to a source who spoke exclusively to In Touch, this evolving dynamic has stirred insecurity and isolation for Dakota and Brad as Gwyneth and Chris maintain a strong bond despite their separation nearly a decade ago.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin find themselves reconnecting over shared memories

Gwyneth Paltrow, 52, and Chris Martin, 47, were married for thirteen years before announcing their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014, with their divorce finalized in 2016.

Although both have since moved on—Paltrow with Brad Falchuk, whom she married in 2018, and Martin dating Dakota Johnson since 2017—their relationship as co-parents has only deepened, especially now as they enter a new chapter of parenting with their children, Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, leaving home.

With Apple and Moses beginning their independent lives, Gwyneth and Chris have found themselves reconnecting over shared memories, drawing closer as they face the emotional journey of the “empty nest” together.

“They’ve been through so much together, and now with the kids leaving home, it’s brought them even closer,” the insider told In Touch.

This connection, the source explained, is unshakable, even as they navigate life with new partners.

“Instead of moving on with their lives separately, they’ve found a way to be there for each other during this transition. They’re constantly on the phone, talking about how they’re dealing with the change, reminiscing about family moments, and planning upcoming holidays together,” the source said.

This reconnection reportedly involves deep, personal conversations and emotional support.

“Gwyneth’s pining for her kids, and Chris is the one she turns to for comfort. They’re basically each other’s therapists, offering advice on everything—even romance.”

The 'Iron Man' star once shared similar sentiments in an interview with People in 2019, explaining, “I think Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids, but our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family.”

The openness between Paltrow and Martin has long been a part of their relationship, with both prioritizing their family even post-divorce. However, this bond may be difficult for their partners to witness.

As Paltrow and Martin share memories and console each other over their new phase as parents of grown children, this closeness has reportedly started to cause discomfort for Dakota and Brad.

The source noted, “Obviously, that’s going to make their partners feel insecure. It’s not that there’s anything romantic between them, but their bond is still so strong, at times it overshadows their current relationships.”

Dakota, 35, has reportedly been patient, but there are instances where she feels alienated by Martin’s connection with his ex-wife.

Although Johnson joined Paltrow and Falchuk on their honeymoon with Martin in a self-described “modern” approach, sources claim there are moments when she feels uncomfortable.

A second source had previously revealed to In Touch that Paltrow’s enthusiastic input in Johnson and Martin’s relationship had even given Johnson second thoughts about marriage.

“Dakota likes Gwyneth, but her obsession with them getting married is too much. She’s coming up with ideas for the ceremony, color themes, locations, even the guest list. It’s exhausting, and one more reason Dakota wants to postpone the wedding,” the source stated.

Meanwhile, Falchuk, 53, also reportedly finds himself on the sidelines.

“Brad’s a great guy, but it’s got to sting seeing her so wrapped up in her ex,” the insider noted.

While both partners have been understanding, Dakota and Brad’s patience may wear thin as the exes continue to share such a strong connection.
