BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: Gypsy Rose Blanchard opted to undergo a highly unusual pre-birth paternity test for her first child with Ken Urker.

This decision follows confirmation from a Louisiana attorney that her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson, will be listed as the father on the birth certificate if they remain married 300 days prior to the child's birth. Current court records from Lafourche Parish indicate that Blanchard and Anderson are still married.

In April, she filed for divorce from Anderson, whom she married in 2022 while still in prison. Blanchard revealed in July that she and her boyfriend, Urker, are expecting their baby, due in January 2025.

A source confirmed to People that Gypsy Rose Blanchard opted to undergo a Noninvasive Prenatal Paternity (NIPP) test to confirm that Ken Urker is the father of her unborn daughter.

Following the test, her ex-husband Anderson's attorney, Randy J Fuerst, described the decision as unusual, emphasizing that most people wait until after the child's birth to conduct paternity tests.

Fuerst, drawing on his extensive experience, stated, "In the 40-something years of practice — of myself and other attorneys in this office for combined longer periods of time — we have never seen someone do a pre-birth paternity test because there is no need to do that."

He explained the standard procedure: "Usually you wait until the birth of the child and then the paternity test is done. And if it turns out, as we suspect, the child is her current boyfriend's, then the birth certificate is changed with an order of the court subsequent to the birth of the child."

"It's highly unusual and unnecessary, and it's a procedure that [sometimes] requires taking DNA from an unborn child. So that's her business and she's certainly welcome to do it. Ryan has no objection to it, but, just as his lawyers do, finds it very unusual," further noted Fuerst.

Meanwhile, a source close to Blanchard reassured that the test is "very low risk," explaining that "it only required her blood and a swab from Ken’s DNA from his cheek since [Blanchard's] blood is circulating in her [baby's] body."

"Having an unnecessary procedure....sounds familiar 🤔 the cycle continues...," remarked a person, possibly alluding to her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. 

"Why would the lawyer say it's unusual... It's unusual for a lawyer to say that unless it's because it doesn't support the case he wants," expressed an individual.

One, who is eager for the results, wondered, "So what are the results???" while another persona advised, "Well, it's better to make sure now than dealing with 'Who's the baby daddy' after they are born."

"I wonder what she is gonna do when it comes out as her husband's kid because the time line she gave doesn't fit the due date," stated another person.
