Gypsy Rose Blanchard welcomes daughter Aurora with BF Ken Urker: 'Greatest gift of all'

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA: Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 33, is officially a mom! The reality TV star and her boyfriend, Ken Urker, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Aurora Urker.

Ken Urker shared the news on Instagram, posting a picture of Blanchard cradling their newborn daughter while the couple looked at her lovingly.

In the picture, the baby can be seen wearing a pink hat. Ken Urker captioned the post, writing, "Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all."

Ken told TMZ that Blanchard gave birth to Aurora on December 28, 2024, in Louisiana, saying, "Aurora is healthy and we are so happy."

The date coincides with Blanchard’s one-year anniversary of her release from prison. She was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center at 3.30 am on December 28, 2023, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Blanchard and her former boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, were arrested in 2015 for the murder of her mother, Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard, who was found stabbed to death in her home in Springfield, Missouri.

Dee Dee subjected her daughter to years of painful medical procedures she never needed as she allegedly suffered from Munchausen by proxy.

Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 10-year prison sentence.

While speaking with People in December, Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared the story behind her daughter’s name, crediting Ken Urker for the idea.

"Ken came up with that," she said of the name Aurora Raina Urker. "There's a whole backstory to it."

Blanchard dismissed assumptions that the name was inspired by the Disney princess Sleeping Beauty or her stepmother Kristy’s dog, Aurora Grace.

She explained that the name was instead influenced by the Northern Lights, saying, "Back whenever Ken and I were together seven years ago, both of us have a fascination with the Northern Lights, and the proper term is the Aurora Borealis."

"I think it was maybe in 2018, we wrote each other's future kid's name on pieces of paper and Aurora is what we both picked without even knowing each other was picking it," Blanchard recalled in her interview with the publication.

She said they held on to that name and that memory even after she and Ken split and she married Ryan Anderson. The marriage lasted less than two years and got back with Ken.

"When we had broken up [it was like] 'Oh, Aurora is never going to be born.' A lot of people think the origin is one thing, but they don't know that little story," Blanchard said.
