Halle Berry seeks sole custody of son Maceo as ex-husband Olivier Martinez 'refuses to co-parent'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hollywood actress Halle Berry has reportedly accused her ex-husband Olivier Martinez of not participating in their co-parenting arrangement. Now she is pursuing full custody of her son Maceo.
In her request for exclusive custody of her son Maceo, 10, Berry stated that Maceo's father, Martinez, "refuses to co-parent or communicate in a child-centered way."

Berry, 58, filed a request for sole legal custody of their 10-year-old son, weeks after she claimed that her ex-husband, also 58, had stopped attending co-parenting classes and after a source revealed that co-parenting "hasn't been easy" for the former couple.
According to People magazine, Berry — the mother of 10-year-old Maceo — filed a plea for his sole legal custody in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, August 16.
'The Union' actress has asked for "tie-breaking authority to make all decisions" concerning Maceo's requirements for therapy, school, and health care if sole custody is not an option.
The filings, which were made in the Los Angeles County Superior Court of California, came a year after their divorce was finalized - about eight years after they split in 2015.
They decided at the time to split joint legal custody of their kid, with Berry giving Martinez $8,000 monthly in child support and an additional "4.3% of any income she receives above $2,000,000."
Berry stated in the most recent document that she "fought for tutoring, an educational assessment and finding an environment that was suitable to Maceo’s needs" in an attempt to address her son's "educational challenges" and other behavioral issues.
However, the document claimed that Martinez has been "oppositional, unmoving and withheld his consent for years."
Berry's document claimed: "Because of Respondent’s opposition to any interventions whatsoever for years and because of Respondent’s prioritizing soccer activities over Maceo’s educational and psychological well-being, Maceo’s educational and behavioral challenges worsened, and he continued to fall further behind in school."
The 'Catwoman' actress specifically stated that her son would "repeat disputes" that the former couple had in private and that Maceo would "act out" at her during "longer periods of custody" with his father.
Martinez, according to her, said the child was "old enough to make his own decisions." Martinez's legal representative informed that he will be "responding to these allegations" in the upcoming weeks.
Halle Berry's ex Olivier Martinez reportedly 'refuses to co-parent' or 'make child-centered decisions'
The 'Catwoman' actress claimed in documents obtained by TMZ that her ex-husband's "turbulent and detrimental behavior" has had a deleterious effect on their 10-year-old son, who struggles with "serious behavior and learning problems" that the French actor allegedly dismissed.
Berry asserted that Martinez disapproved of Maceo's coaching because it would conflict with his practice schedule and that Martinez was more focused on Maceo's soccer career than his academics.
Consequently, Maceo's academic performance has suffered. Berry also stated that after spending time with Martinez, her son comes back to her upset, saying the father of one tells him about marital problems.
The source said that although Martinez's parenting abilities are not up to the standard, Berry called hers "exemplary."
In the document, Berry's legal team claimed that Martinez has interfered with Maceo's custody rights, "[withheld] information from Petitioner, [made] unilateral decisions on Maceo’s behalf, [involved] Maceo in the parties’ conflict, and [refused] to follow the recommendations of Maceo’s school."
They further claimed that Martinez "ignores the professionals hired to help Maceo, and he aggressively stands in the way of implementing strategies and interventions to assist Maceo."
"To summarize, Respondent refuses to co-parent or communicate in a child-centered way or make child-centered decisions, which interferes with getting Maceo the help he needs," the complaint stated.
"By refusing to communicate, withholding consent, or deferring decisions, he has effectively delegated to himself sole decision-making authority in violation of the parties’ Stipulated Judgment."
Berry and her former spouse have "very different parenting styles," per a source who spoke with PEOPLE in early August. However, "they both love Maceo," who they welcomed in October of 2013.
According to court documents acquired by PEOPLE in May, the ex-couple had previously consented to meet with a coach to "resolve disputes and conflicts between them in an effort to successfully co-parent" Maceo.
