Reason why Halle Berry and ex Olivier Martinez are still feuding a year after finalizing their divorce
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Halle Berry is accusing her ex-husband Olivier Martinez of trying to delay their co-parenting therapy to “take the summer off.”
A year after the couple finalized their divorce in August 2023, the Oscar-winning actress is claiming that her ex is trying to delay the process of child therapy, which they previously agreed upon.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are feuding over child therapy
The 57-year-old actress tied the knot with Oliver Martinez, 58, in 2013. The former couple went on to welcome their son Maceo, 10.
However, after they separated in 2016, the former couple finalized their divorce seven years later in August 2023.
Per Daily Mail, they agreed to attend therapy in May 2024 to “resolve disputes and conflicts between them in an effort to successfully co-parent” their son.
According to the court documents obtained by US Weekly then, it was revealed that the former couple would be sitting with a psychiatrist to resolve their issues. It was also noted that the doctor would “determine the manner, structure, length of the session and the frequency of the co-parenting therapy/coaching," per Us Weekly.
However, recently, the ‘Catwoman’ star accused her ex-husband of delaying the sessions so that he could take his “summer off,” while pushing the sessions to September.
Berry further claimed that he did not clear the dates with her and the therapist as well, before noting that Martinez missed his sessions in July because of his travels to France.
She claimed that her French actor ex is trying to push the dates from August as well citing his brother would come to visit.
Through her court filing, Berry is requesting the judge to force him to adhere to session schedules while claiming that six joint sessions were due to be completed by June 14.
Moreover, she also added that since all the sessions are conducted via Zoom, Martinez should not use traveling as an excuse.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez share joint custody of their son
Though the couple separated in 2016, they had “some unresolved issues on custody and child support” over their son, per TMZ.
However, in 2023, they finalized the custody arrangement and decided to file for “'joint legal and physical custody of Maceo.”
According to the arrangement, Halle has custody of Maceo from Monday to Wednesday and Olivier looks after him from Wednesday to Friday. Both sets of parents alternate duties on the weekends.
Moreover, the ‘Monster’s Ball’ actress has to pay $8,000 a month to Martinez to cover the expenses of Maceo's health insurance, therapy, and school.
The ‘Swordfish’ actress has been asked to cover for Maceo’s private school tuition and his extracurricular activities including soccer. She has also been asked by the court to write a check for an additional 4.4 percent of all income if she ever makes more than $2 million.
