The temporary separation, initially seen as a career move for Flockhart, has left some insiders wondering if this could be the start of a permanent change.
Unlike Ford, who has been immersed in filming 'Shrinking' and promoting '1923', Flockhart is said to be embracing her time in New York with open arms.
“Calista is absolutely loving it,” a friend revealed. “She loves the crisp winter air, the cozy coffee shops, her cast-mates, and getting back to her theater roots.”
Flockhart, who famously stepped back from the spotlight to raise their adopted son Liam, now 24, has been focusing on her theater roots. Initially, her play was set to end in March, but an extension until April 6 means she will have been away from Ford for nearly three months, the longest they’ve been apart in their marriage.
The source explained, "When Calista signed on to do the play, it was meant to end in March. These extra dates mean she'll have been gone almost three months by the time she's done. It's the longest stretch of time that she and Harrison will have been apart for."
Meanwhile, Ford has been keeping himself occupied in California. He attended the SAG Awards solo and was slated to present at the Oscars, but he withdrew last-minute due to a bout of shingles. Insiders say he’s “trying not to be too clingy” while respecting Flockhart’s career resurgence.
“He calls her every night,” a source shared. "It's safe to say he is missing her a lot more than she's missing him."
"In fact, you could say she's flourishing without the demands of being Mrs Ford," an insider shared.
