INDIANOLA, IOWA: Donald Trump experienced a rare disruption during his campaign stop in Indianola, Iowa, on Sunday, January 14, when a group of young environmental protesters infiltrated the rally, accusing him of being a "climate criminal."

The banner-holding demonstrators were eventually escorted out of the student union building where the former president was holding his final rally before the January 15 Iowa caucuses.

Donald Trump tells environmental protesters who interrupted his rally to 'grow up'

In response to the interruptions, Trump seized the opportunity to engage with the protesters, telling them to "go home to mommy" and to "grow up." This marked the first disruption at one of his rallies in years, as per Politico.

Trump said, "Thank you, darling, thank you. That's alright," adding, "Go home to mommy, you're mommy's waiting. Go home to mommy."

He continued, "So young. So young. It's amazing because that used to happen all the time, and I don't think it's happened in two-and-a-half or three years. So anyway, so young and immature."

Trump acknowledged that such interruptions "always add excitement" to the events, expressing confidence that the protesters would eventually grow out of it. He expressed, "They'll grow up and understand that it's very important what we're doing when we speak from common sense."

Interestingly, the same group of protesters had also targeted rallies held by biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the Des Moines area leading up to the Iowa caucuses.

Donald Trump's response to hecklers leaves Internet in splits

Soon after Trump's response to the young climate protestors came to light, netizens, especially the ex-POTUS' supporters, couldn't help but respond with hilarious reactions.

One noted, "Yup, that's my guy! Put up or shut up," while another wrote, "President Trump is the best... I love when he calls out these loser protesters who still live in their parent’s basement."

"Trump playing the greatest hits," expressed a person, and someone else chimed in, "There's just something about the way he does this that doesn't let me down."

An individual quipped, "I can’t wait for the mean tweets to come back to the White House."

One more, "Trump is no doubt entertaining to say the least."

Highlights of Donald Trump's last rally ahead of Iowa caucuses

Trump's rally featured several politicians and lawmakers, including Rep Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and the ex-POTUS' former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker. A message from Lara Trump, the wife of his middle son Eric Trump, was also played during the event, as per Daily Mail

The venue inside the campus center for Simpson College in Indianola accommodated a few hundred seats with additional standing room. Although a final count of attendees was not immediately available, at least 500 people seemed to be present for the rally.

Despite sub-zero-degree temperatures, supporters lined up outside the venue hours before Trump's arrival, showcasing their enduring enthusiasm for the former president.

At the beginning of his speech, he remarked, "You've got to see outside, there are hundreds of people. The storm has had zero effect," highlighting the dedication of his supporters despite challenging weather conditions.

Trump later advised, "Dress warmly tomorrow night."
