MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Larry Kudlow, former Director of the National Economic Council during the Trump presidency, called global warming a "hoax".

The current Fox Business commentator made the remarks during a conversation with Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville on Friday, January 12.

"This global warming stuff and green new deal stuff and over a trillion dollars, I say it's a hoax. There is no immediate danger," the former Trump aide said.

Tuberville agreed, saying, "It's a money grab."

Kudlow backed his claims, pointing out, "Iowans know it's going to be cold in January. Montanans know it's going to be cold in January. Pretty much everybody except John Kerry knows it's going to be cold in January. And we also know it's going to be hot in August."

His remarks came amid a blizzard warning in Iowa as the Republican members of the state are heading to select their presidential nominee for the 2024 election on January 15.

Donald Trump cancels in-person events in Iowa due to bad weather

According to a CNN report, a central area of the Hawkeye state is under a blizzard warning from Friday, January 12, to Saturday, January 13, with 6 to 10 inches of snowfall and wind gusts above 40mph.

In light of the extreme weather conditions, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump canceled his in-person campaign events except one in the state, as reported by HuffPost.

The Trump campaign attributed the decision to "an abundance of caution amid severe weather advisories".

With the worst weather in recorded history, Iowans are expected to face sub-zero temperatures on the caucus day.

GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley also canceled her Hawkeye state events due to the bad weather.

Adding to the warnings, far-right activist and Trump ally Trump Laura Loomer came up with a conspiracy theory linking the blizzard with the caucus. Posting on her X account, she floated a theory accusing Haley of manipulating the weather to prevent Trump's victory.

Despite the heavy winter threatening the turnout on January 15, the former President is expecting success in kickstarting the election year, leading to a potential rematch with President Joe Biden.

Internet reacts to Larry Kudlow's claims

Social media users trolled the former Trump aide as he failed to differentiate between climate and weather and accused him of repeating the age-old Republican belief of climate change as a "hoax".

One user labeled him "Kudlow, Walmart Climate Scientist."

Another user wrote, "Well, it seems like Larry Kudlow is taking a page out of the "weather is climate" playbook. Next thing you know, he'll be blaming the cold snap on a conspiracy of rogue snowmen. Hey Larry, here's a tip: put on a coat and read a science book."

"Classic example of talking about thing you know nothing about. good job Larry," remarked a third user.

Another added, "He doesn’t know what he is talking about about."

A fifth reaction read, "Yawn. Their go-to old favorite line on climate change. get new material, repubs."

"Larry has never heard of North Midwestern winters, has he?" asked one user.

Another response read, "Larry Kudlow doesn't know the difference between climate and weather."

One user wrote, "Grade schoolers know the difference between climate and weather but not Larry."
