Prince Harry bashed for not mentioning cancer-stricken father Charles in 2024 NFL Honors speech

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Prince Harry, who recently returned to the United States after a brief visit to the UK, is facing criticism for his failure to mention his ailing father, King Charles III, during his speech at the 2024 NFL Honors.

The prince, who had a short meeting with his cancer-stricken father before leaving the UK, made an unexpected appearance at the awards ceremony held at the Resorts World Theater in Las Vegas on Thursday, Fenruary 8.

The Duke of Sussex, 39 made a shocking appearance at 2024 NFL Honors and reportedly presented the Walter Payton Man of the Year award to Cameron Heyward, a footballer for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Upon receiving the award, Heyward humorously expressed his surprise, saying, "I'm in shock. That's Prince Harry."

After a ten-hour flight from Los Angeles, Prince Harry arrived in London on Tuesday.

He reached the royal residence at 2.42 pm and spent approximately 45 minutes with his father, King Charles III, following the King's unexpected cancer announcement, per Daily Mail.

Despite his strained relationship with his father and brother, Prince William, since stepping away from royal duties, Harry promptly returned to LA and appeared in Las Vegas the next day.

King Charles III's cancer was reportedly discovered while he was being treated for an enlarged prostate, as per the Palace.

After treatment, he returned to his Sandringham estate to recuperate. He had a brief meeting with Prince Harry before he and Camilla were taken back to Sandringham from Buckingham Palace.

Prince Harry had flown over 5,000 miles from Los Angeles to London, leaving his young children behind, after his father informed him of his diagnosis.

This was their first formal in-person meeting since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

Although Prince Harry attended Charles's coronation at Westminster Abbey in May last year, he was not seen interacting with the newly-crowned King and Queen.

In response to Piers Morgan's critique of Harry's time spent with his ailing father, a social media user suggested, "He could have done a zoom and spent more time talking .saved a heap of time."

Prince Harry's brief meeting with his ailing father, King Charles III, was reportedly due to the King's fatigue from a recent procedure, per The Times of London.

Despite waiting for Harry's delayed arrival, the King and Queen were said to be coping well.

Meanwhile, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was seen driving carefree in LA amidst flood advisories, while Harry returned to LA and attended the NFL Honors in Vegas.

Harry, a known Rugby enthusiast, humorously commented on the sport.

He said, "Really love how you stole Rugby from us," highlighting the differences between the two sports. his main purpose on stage was to present Heyward with one of the league's highest honors.

"All you guys do on and off the field is truly remarkable. You are role models for millions in the way you carry yourselves and in the way you give back," Harry added.
