Celine Dion 'isn't sitting around moping' amid stiff-person diagnosis, says source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Celine Dion will not let the her debilitating neurological condition define her life.
The ‘Queen of Power Ballads’ is trying to get the most out of her life after revealing her Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022. An insider close to the ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer has even shared that she has been supported and cheered by her children who are trying to 'keep her spirits up'.
‘Celine’s being extremely positive’
Mentioning the 55-year-old singer’s three sons, René-Charles, 24, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 13, the insider recently shared with a news outlet that, “Everyone’s rallying round Celine,” per OK! Magazine.
They explained, “Her kids are front and center, helping with whatever she needs and spending time with her to keep her spirits up. Dion, who is surrounded by her loving family is being extremely positive and trying her best to defeat the condition."
However, the source shared, “Some days are harder than others,” noting, “But Celine’s being extremely positive.”
Talking about the songstress’s multiple physical therapy sessions, the source shared, “Celine isn’t sitting around moping, that will never be her style,” before adding, “She’s holding out hope that she’ll recover and even perform again. Her resilience is remarkable.”
‘She doesn’t have control of her muscles’
Celine Dion is getting constant support from her sisters as well. One of her sisters, Linda, recently moved in with the Grammy-winning songstress.
Another sister Claudette shared with the French news outlet 7Jours in December 2023 that “She works hard, but she doesn’t have control of her muscles,” per In Touch Weekly,
She added, “What pains me is that she has always been disciplined. She always worked hard. The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle.”
The 74-year-old sister of the ‘All by Myself’ singer mourned that scientists “didn’t do that much research because it didn’t affect that many people.”
While Dion is trying her best to return to the stage, her losing the control over her muscle is proving to be a major roadblock.
Claudette addressed the issue and said, "It's true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don't know."

Another source shared a heartbreaking insight into her never-yielding attitude as they sharedshe would be "content" to perform from a wheelchair as well. They shared, "Celine would be content to just sit in a chair and sing to entertain her audiences.”
"But her voice is just not coming back the way that would allow her to perform or record again," continued the insider, per RadarOnline.
The source explained, "She has spasms in her vocal cords. She can sing fine — just like you know Celine for a few notes, then a spasm kicks in and throws what she's singing completely out of whack."
They concluded, “Sadly, it doesn't seem to be repairable — whether through surgery or therapy."
